He also said that he wants to raise awareness in the hope that more men will get checked, as statistics state that 11,500 deaths are a result of prostate cancer each year, making it the top cancer risk for men.
Tom said that looking at those statistics, he remembers the lives of dads, brothers, cousins, uncles and sons who have passed away.
“It points out that it can happen to anyone at any time, so you kind of have to make the most of the time you’ve got,” he added.
“If there’s anything we can do to support the research or help this disease and help people or prolong peoples’ lives then you kind of have to do it.
“It’s something that doesn’t get talked about enough.”

He went on to explain that while the disease mainly affects older men, younger men should be aware of what could happen.
He added: “It doesn’t affect people my age as much, but it should be on everyone’s radar because you just never know.
“It’s always better to be prepared for something and to be aware rather than just having no idea.”
Five common warning signs of the disease are; Pain and/or a burning sensation when urinating or ejaculating, frequent urination, especially during the night-time, trouble starting urination, or stopping urination once in progress, sudden erectile dysfunction and blood in either urine or semen.
