Good Morning Britain viewers left divided as Ed Balls takes on presenting duties

Good Morning Britain fans were divided over guest presenter Ed Balls as he hosted the programme alongside Susanna Reid.

The former politician was certainly the talk of the town amongst viewers online during Tuesday morning’s episode when he sat in the famous GMB hot seat for a second day.

But due to some minor errors and speaking over his guests, fans were left split on whether he made a good presenter.

Taking to Twitter, viewers shared their thoughts on his presenting duties and debated whether he should continue stepping in on the ITV morning show.

One fan wrote: “A presenter Ed Balls does not make.”

Another said: “I quite like Ed Balls, but he seems to stumble over his words an awful lot, and talks over everyone. Sometimes it’s frustrating to watch.”

Meanwhile, a third unimpressed viewer chimed: “I can’t do it, #Balls is excruciating to watch, he can’t even string a coherent sentence together. I’ll come back for Adil tomorrow.”

A fourth person complained about an ex MP joining the GMB hot seat for presenting.

However, some believed he was doing a great job and wrote: “I love Ed Balls on #GMB let’s keep him full time. Love his face.”

While another said: “Politics dancing presenting there’s no beginning to ed’s talents.”

And a third chimed: “Really enjoying Ed Balls on @GMB over the past couple of mornings! Would be happy if he became a regular presenter!”

Ed first made his presenting debut on the popular morning show back in November last year, where he admitted he was felt quite “daunted” by appearing on the show.

Talking openly to Susanna at the time, he said: “Thank goodness you’re here, it’s so good to have somebody who knows what they are doing.”

He added: “Well thank you, I’ve never done this before so it’s exciting, bit daunting.”

But long-time host Susanna reassured him that she wouldn’t leave his side and encouraged the ex-politician.

“It’s going to be very interesting and it’s lovely to have you here,” she expressed.

Since Piers Morgan furiously walked off the GMB set in March 2021, a variety of presenters have hosted the show alongside Susanna.

Some of the hosts include Adil Ray, Ranvir Singh and Alex Beresford.

Piers has since moved over to The Sun to present The Sun’s new programme Talk TV.

GMB airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
