Graham Norton praised by Eurovision fans after 'sarcastic' Laura Pausini swipe

Graham Norton has been praised by Eurovision Song Contest fans for his running commentary during Laura Pausini’s opening performance.

This year, while Laura performed during the opening set, she will be presenting alongside Mika, and The X Factor Italy’s host, Alessandro Cattelan.

However, as the Italian singer, 47, kicked off the live grand final with a performance of some of her hits, leaving Graham and viewers at home extremely amused.

As Laura’s performance continued to go on, Graham joked that she was performing her “album”.

He said: “It’s a whole album”

Fans couldn’t help but laugh over his quick wit as they took to social media, with one saying: “Graham Norton’s commentary is the best part of #Eurovision.”

A second added: “‘It’s a medley… It’s a whole album’, @thegnshow is a genius #Eurovision.”

“Graham Norton is the exact right level of b****iness everytime, my king #Eurovision,” typed a third.

Another added: “@grahnort’s commentary makes #Eurovision – you can hear the effortless sarcasm every time he speaks: ‘It’s a whole album…'”

While a fifth penned: “‘It’s a medley, oh no its an album’, ‘oh she’s finished oh no she’s not’ y’know sometimes I just prefer commentary #Eurovision.”

Laura’s performance certainly delivered an array of colourful wardrobe changes, with the singer switching outfits for every song.

Despite Laura’s performance ruffling some feathers, her sparkly jacket during the show also caught the attention of viewers with one saying: “Love Laura Pausini’s sparkly jacket! #Eurovision.

“I NEED Laura Pausini’s jacket like right now #Eurovision,” added a second.

Before a third typed: “Laura Pausini may have the greatest outfit of the evening – that sparkly jacket is amazeface #Eurovision.”

While Laura may be unknown to many Brits, she has been dubbed one of the most respected Italian recording artists across the globe.

Over the course of her career which launched in 1993, she has released 14 studio albums and also boasts a collection of an impressive awards.

She has four Latin Grammy Awards, a Grammy Award and a Golden Globe under her belt.

The hitmaker has also received a historic Oscars nod for the first song to be completely sung in Italian to be nominated before she performed her song Io sì (Seen) at the 93rd awards.

Away from the stage, Laura has also appeared as a coach on The Voice Mexico and sat on the judging panel of Spain’s edition of The X Factor.
