The highly-anticipated Harry Potter reunion which aired on HBO Max over the weekend has come under fire after a huge and unmissable blooper that was picked up by fans of the mega franchise.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts finally dropped on New Year’s Day and accidentally used baby photo of Emma Roberts instead of Emma Watson.
Using a snap of the wrong Emma, the image they used was of Julia Roberts’ niece, who doesn’t star in the franchise at all.
They should have used a baby photo of Watson who played Hermione Granger – one of the main characters.
Fans were quick to spot the blunder, with many taking to Twitter to make sure they weren’t alone in thinking that this was a mistake.
One said: “Tears flowing down my face that is not Emma Watson that is Emma Roberts.”
Another penned: “THEY PUT THE FAMOUS EMMA ROBERTS PICTURE IN THE REUNION THAT ALMOST EVERYONE THINK IT’S EMMA WATSON. WHAT THE ACTUAL F***. I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS.”
A third said: “Can’t decide if this was on purpose to generate hate views (for promotion) or if it’s a hilariously bad error by Warner Bros. in the production of their Harry Potter retrospective: They used a photo of actress Emma Roberts as a child instead of Emma Watson.”
While a fourth penned: “Holy s**t, HBO Max used an old Instagram pic of Emma Roberts, while Emma Watson was talking about her childhood, during the Harry Potter reunion special.”
Emma Watson played Hermione Granger in the entire Harry Potter movie franchise, and was put forward for casting in 1999.
The actress is now 31 years of age and has had a long and successful career in acting and activism.
Emma Roberts on the other hand has never had anything to do with the franchise.
The 30-year-old actress has many impressive acting credits and has starred in the likes of Scream Queens, American Horror Story and Wild Child.
Neither actresses have addressed the blunder yet, but surely they’ll make light of it sooner or later.
