The long-awaited epic reunion special – Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, will debut on New Years Day – it will mark two decades since the release of the first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, in 2001.
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, will also be joined by a whole host of familiar faces from the Wizarding world – spilling the beans about the behind-the-scenes magic that happened on set.
The film’s stars loose lips have left fans squealing as snippets from the reunion have been revealed – teasing all the saucy flirting and magical sparks that developed between the cast on-set over its duration
Daily Story takes a deeper look into all of the Harry Potter actors, co-star romances and on-set crushes.
Daniel Radcliffe ‘smitten’ by Helena Bonham Carter
The movie’s lead, Daniel Radcliffe, confessed he had a crush on his co-star Helena Bonham Carter who played the whimsical character Bellatrix Le strange – known for her malevolent dark ways.
The now 32-year-old star confessed to being absolutely smitten over his co-star Helena, 53, who is 23 years his senior during filming.
Daniel cutely admitted that he gave his ex-crush Helena an adorable letter on-set that unveiled his adoration for the actress.
He revealed that he began the letter with: “Dear HBC, It was a pleasure being your co-star and coaster in the sense that I always ended up holding your coffee.”
Cranking up the flirting in the letter, he added: “I do love you, And I just wish I had been born 10 years earlier [so that] I might [have had] a chance. Lots of love and thanks for being cool.”
Daniel’s adoration confession came during an interview for the upcoming reunion.
Emma Watson’s crush
The 31-year-old actress who played Hermione Granger admitted that she had puppy eyes over the blonde-haired 34-year-old hunk, Tom Felton, who played the mischievous Draco Malfoy.
Emma recalled: “I walked into the room where we had tutoring. The assignment that had been given was to draw what you thought god looked like and Tom had drawn a girl with a backward cap on a skateboard. And I just don’t know how to say it – I just fell in love with him.”
Emma cheekily clarified that nothing “ever, ever happened romantically” but that the pair “just love each other”.
In the special reunion, Tom shyly addressed the dating rumors and said he he knew about Emma’s cute crush over him.
He said: “I became very protective over her. Yeah, I’ve always had a soft spot for her, and that continues to the day.”
The Goblet of Fire and its many crushes
Rupert Grint who played red-haired Ron Weasley, reflected on the sexual tension that arose on-set of the film’s fourth film – Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.
In this movie, bosses upped-the-ante with the number of teenagers on set as the film’s storyline centred around the Triwizard Tournament – where several wizarding schools competed against each other in dangerous challenges.
With the majority of the cast being 14-16 at the time – kick-starting puberty – Ron teased that many flings and sparks began to happen on set.
He said: “It was very interesting film to work on because there were a lot of hormones flying around.”
Bonnie Wright, who starred in all seven Harry Potter films as Ginny Weasley, confirmed the sexual tension.
She penned: “In that film [number 4] is just all about teenagers having crushes for the first time, asking someone to [be their] date for the Yule Ball. The characters, just mirrored all those awkward stages that you go through as a teenager and they really felt like that too because we literally had the same experiences.”
