Harry Styles makes moving 'free man' speech during fan's poignant coming out

Harry Styles recently helped a fan come out live on stage during night two of his sold-out Love On Tour show at Wembley Stadium.

The superstar, 28, has recently finished the UK leg of his world tour which has seen him perform to over 500,000 fans across several nights.

Harry has delighted fans with performances in cities such as Manchester, Glasgow and also two nights at Wembley over the weekend.

During his tour, Harry, who is an active ally, has actively waved pride flags as well as trans flags, showing his solidarity with fans as well as helping some fans come out if they had been struggling.

The fan in question held a handmade sign saying: “From ONO [One Night Only] to Wembley: Help Me Come Out,” which instantly caught the cheeky Cheshire chap’s eyes.

Speaking on stage, Harry said: “You sir, what’s your name? Matia? Where are you from?

“Would you like us to do this now at Wembley? You’ve got your sign, do you want to do this now?”

He added: “You would like the people of Wembley, to bring you out,” before receiving a pride flag from the fan.

Harry continued: “Make some noise for Matia everyone – when this flag goes above my head, you are officially out, ok.

“I think this how it works, when this sign goes above my head, you’re officially gay, my boy.”

Building tension, the hitmaker moved around the stage waving the rainbow flag before exclaiming: “Nope, still straight…,” then shouting: “Congratulations Matia, you are a free man,” as he proudly waved the flag above his head.

In the past, the Love Of My Life hitmaker has previously refused to address his own sexuality and recently opened up on this decision.

He told Better Homes & Gardens: “For a long time, it felt like the only thing that was mine was my sex life.

“I felt so ashamed about it, ashamed at the idea of people even knowing that I was having sex, let alone who with.”

Since bursting onto the scene in 2010, Harry’s relationships have been under intense scrutiny with him previously saying he found it difficult to trust people due to the sheer volume of “kiss-and-tell” stories.

The Grammy award-winning singer also slammed any speculation about his sexuality, claiming it was “outdated”.

He explained: “I’ve been really open with it with my friends, but that’s my personal experience; it’s mine.

“The whole point of where we should be heading, which is toward accepting everybody and being more open, is that it doesn’t matter, and it’s about not having to label everything, not having to clarify what boxes you’re checking.”
