Helen Skelton teases Strictly Come Dancing stint amid heartbreaking marriage split

Helen Skelton may be best known as a Blue Peter presenter or fronting Countryfile but she could be set to take to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom.

The 38-year-old appeared on the Christmas Special back in 2012 alongside professional dancer Artem Chigvintsev, with the pair scoring an impressive 37 out of 40.

It comes just weeks after Helen confirmed her eight-year marriage to Richie Myler had come to an end, with reports suggesting Richie has moved on with the daughter of Leeds Rhino’s president, Andrew Thirkhill.

Now, a decade on from her brief stint, the presenter has hinted that should the call come through, it would be incredibly difficult to not sign on the dotted line.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Helen previously said: “It’s one of those shows I think that is such a, you know, in terms of a telly gig, it’s the biggest and the best.

“[It has] a fantastic makeup team, a fantastic costume team and a fantastic lighting team.”

The mum-of-two added: “I think anybody who works in telly would find it very difficult how to say no to it.”

While many Brits will have hailed Helen as their inspiration growing up having seen her embark on several gruelling Blue Peter tasks, she explained she “wrestles” with the term of being hailed an inspiration.

Helen explained: “I think my job has always been to entertain and inform.

“You know, that’s the kind of motto of Blue Peter and that was my first big network show, so I kind of always stick with that and I’m very lucky that I’ve worked with some really good fun programmes and projects and informing and entertaining is what it’s all about.

“I think people are so emotive and have been engaged in environmental issues, that It wouldn’t have been my ambition to tell people what they shouldn’t or should be doing or shouldn’t or should be thinking.

“All our job is to do is to say, this is what’s happening, here are our options, here’s what you can do if it’s your thing.”

Helen recently threw herself into work mode after taking to her Instagram Stories to discuss smart energy meters with her dedicated followers.

It came days after Helen revealed that she had been “reluctant” to return to work after spending time at home with her children during the coronavirus lockdown periods.
