Holby City fans witnessed the return of some old faces during the latest episode as Jac Naylor was visited by the ghosts of Essie Harrison and Arthur Digby in her dream.
Kaye Wragg and Rob Ostlere reprised their roles on the BBC One soap in dying Jac’s dream sequence as they paid her a visit by her bedside in hospital.
Jac also got a visit from her late half-sister Jasmine after being tormented by the pair who torture her with questions about wanting to know what it’s like in the afterlife.
As Jasmine walks into the room with a bottle of booze, Jac gets a bumpy return to reality, where Fletch is lying in a chair sleeping by her hospital bed.
The popular character is bed-bound now after collapsing in last week’s episode.
It was another brief return for all three characters, but that didn’t stop fans from expressing their love.
“Essie, Digby and Jasmine in first two minutes…think this will be a good episode! #HolbyCity,” one fan wrote.
“ARTHUR OH MY GOD”, another added.
While a third gushed: “OMG Essie @Wraggywraggster & Arthur @RobOstlere in the first minute of @BBCHolbyCity what a brilliant surprise!! oh my heart was not ready #HolbyCity #SaveHolby”
All three of these characters died at Holby City.
For Essie and Arthur, they passed away in 2020 and 2016 after losing their battles with cancer.
For Jac’s sister, Jasmine, she died in 2017 following a fatal stabbing.
There was also another surprise return to Holby as Fletch’s mystery call recipient was revealed.
Viewers saw Fletch approach a nameless doctor last week to perform Jac’s risky surgery, and to fans delight, Professor Elliot Hope showed up in a bid to save her.
Dr Hope posed an unconventional idea to potentially save Jac, leaving fans baffled as he suggest freezing her.
Dr Hope proposed putting Jac into a deep hypothermia and reducing her body temperature to below 20 degrees and slowing her heart.
After some convincing, neurosurgeon Max agreed to go ahead with the procedure.

“Elliot’s just had an idea to freeze / cool Jac to make the op successful!,” said one viewer.
“Are they going to freeze Jac snd do the op? #HolbyCity,” asked another. While a third added:
“#HolbyCity Freeze her for the op! She is the ice queen, after all… The irony.”
Elsewhere in Tuesday’s episode, fans were emotional after Nicky asked Eli and Amelia to be godparents to her baby Juliet after she retracted her offer for them to adopt her.
The final episode of Holby City will air on BBC One on March 29
