Hollyoaks star Sophie Porley has been taken into emergency surgery after doctors revealed she had an ovarian cyst.
The star revealed to fans that she had been freezing her eggs, as well as injecting herself with a needle before doctors explained that she required surgery.
Sophie, 29, took to her Instagram page to explain to fans why she had been absent from social media in recent days.
She said: “Thank you for the lovely messages I got after being MIA for 24 hours, I honestly didn’t think anyone would notice.
“I got my blood tests and scan back- my hormones are still not completely ideal but they have improved so after chatting to the doctor we decided to give it a try this month and hope for the best!”
Sophie continued: “It may just mean that we don’t collect as many eggs as they would hope to.
“I also had a cyst on my ovary so they booked me in to have that operated on yesterday. It all went well, I was just pretty sleepy all day from the sedation.
“Something that I didn’t enjoy is injecting myself for the first time. They don’t show you in the clinic how to do this. You get sent home with everything you need and a YouTube video.
“I’m not going to lie, I was s***ing myself and there were a few tears.”
She continued: “I’m finding this quite an isolating experience as everything in the clinic feels quite rushed.
“They do this all day every day so I’m sure it’s just another day to them. Whereas it’s overwhelming and new for me. But I’m two days in to doing my own injections and it’s already easier and it really didn’t hurt, it was more the thought of it.
“So now I will be going to the clinic daily for blood tests so they can tell me exactly how much of each medication I should be injecting each day. And every other day I have a scan. So it’s quite intense.”
Sophie explained that she would be “happy to answer any questions” if her followers were intrigued by her experience.
Her fans and celebrity pals soon rushed to the comment section, sending their well wishes to the actress.
Model Chloe Lloyd commented: “Proud of you, you’ve got this!”
While another added: “Thank you for sharing and glad you’re ok.”
“Hope everything is going ok, you got this,” commented a second fan.
