Ryan Reynolds had to be bleeped out in ITV’s Lorraine after branding his movie co-star a “cheeky little b******”.
The Hollywood star appeared on Wednesday’s (March 9) programme where he chatted about his new film The Adam Project to ITV host Lorraine Kelly.
The movie is based on Ryan’s character bumping into his 12-year-old self and covers complicated relationships with kids and their parents.
Walker Scobell, 13, plays his younger self, which leads Lorraine on to ask the star: “What about your co-star Walker, he is a wee bit of a scene-stealer, don’t you think?”
To which Ryan, 45, replied: “Yeah he’s a cheeky little b****** I’ll tell you that much. He really is.
“There’s no stopping that kid. He’s amazing. We read hundreds and hundreds of kids for that role and the second sentence out of his mouth we knew he was the guy.
“He can mimic my cadence and delivery in ways which were kind of baffling.”
Lorraine, 62, then moved on to say: “As well as being funny the movie is about loss, the movie about love, and about loss, father and son, son and mother and all of those really important relationships.”
Talking about the plot of the film and how it truly resonates with his own life, Ryan explained: “When my older self shows up in the year 2022 by accident and I run into my 12-year-old self, who looks at his father like a superhero and I see the same man as a supervillain, we begin this journey toward some understanding of each others perspectives.
“So many of the things in the movie do echo my real life, I had an n incredibly complicated relationship with my dad who passed away in 2015.”
He continued: “I had a lot of stories I told myself about him and stories that corroborated my own shortcomings and really kind of made excuses for things in my life that I really didn’t want to confront and the movie really tackles that head-on.
“And sometimes those stories are necessarily true and I had that moment in my adult, I said is that story I’m telling myself about my father, is that really true?
“And it turns out it’s not true. somewhere between superhero and supervillain are parents, right in the middle there. They are human beings and they are people who are doing the best they can with what they have and that is no exception to my family.”
