The new series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here is underway and back in Australia, after two years based at Gwrych Castle in Wales.
The beloved ITV reality programme had been forced to move to Wales due to the pandemic, but the cast and crew got more than they bargained for after reports of paranormal activity on the grounds.
The stars of the 2020 and 2021 series are not the only celebs from the programme to have encountered paranormal activity however – with many of the stars sharing their own real-life ghost stories.

As the latest series continues, Daily Star takes a look at I’m a Celeb’s real life ghost encounters.
Ant and Dec
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, I’m a Celeb was moved from Australia to Gwrych Castle in Wales for two years – but the cast and crew reportedly experienced a few paranormal encounters while they were there.
It was reported by The Mirror that the crew “refused to work at the castle at night” as they heard “horrifying noises” and had fears of seeing apparitions.
One employee who works at the castle told The Sun that “a few people have claimed to have seen a floating woman in white,” while locals have also claimed the ghost of a servant girl haunted the grounds.
Even Ant and Dec appeared to be scared by the paranormal sightings, with the two saying they had “the willies put up us” in an Instagram video.
The pair could be seen filming in the trial area in the castle, when Ant spotted something in the distance.
A worried Ant then said, “It was the woman from props. It wasn’t the Countess.”
Dec added: “Sorry, someone’s put the willies up us. Which was an experience in itself.”
Sue Cleaver
Sue Cleaver is one the latest batch of celebrities taking on the jungle for the 2022 series – but did you know she has spoken about experiencing paranormal activity on the Coronation Street set?
There have been claims of paranormal activity by the cast and crew of the ITV soap, including feeling the spirits of former stars including Jean Alexander and Pat Phoenix, who played Hilda Ogden and Elsie Tanner.
Eileen Grimshaw star Sue is reported to believe that there could be something, or someone, haunting the set, telling The Sun: “So many people have seen and felt the same things that there has to be something in it.”
She also joined Yvette Fielding and the Most Haunted team for an investigation of the set in 2005, with Yvette exclusively telling Daily Star that after it appeared that the ghost of the late star Elsie Tanner star Pat Phoenix was trying to ‘communicate’, the cast then attempted to ask the spirit to confirm if it was her.
She said: “I remember Elsie Tanner, her picture was in a hallway or something, and weirdly enough it started to rattle. There was some tapping coming through, and it was just bizarre.
“I can’t remember if it was Sue Cleaver or was it Steve [Simon Gregson]…I can’t remember. I have a mind blank when it comes to names.
“But they were all there. They were all lovely.
“It was bizarre because they were putting their ears to Elsie’s picture and going, ‘is that you?’ Knock twice for yes and once for no.’
Ashley Roberts
I’m a Celeb 2012 runner up Ashley Roberts recently revealed that she grew up in a haunted home – and that she encountered a variety of paranormal activity.
During a chat with Guilty Pleasures, she revealed that she experienced “wild things,” including lights turning themselves on and off, as well as cabinets opening and closing.
That’s not all, as she also explained that a plumber fixing a toilet at their home fled and “left his tool belt because he was so scared.”
The TV personality also had a paranormal encounter with fellow Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly Wyatt while on tour in Italy, saying: “I hear her running down the hallway because she was so scared, she didn’t want to sleep alone.
“It was the same thing, cabinets opening and closing.”
Kerry Katona
I’m a Celeb 2004 winner and first ever Queen of the Jungle Kerry Katona has claimed that her home was haunted by an evil ghost.
Speaking with OK! the singer and TV personality claimed that she was once visited at her home by a ghost – leading her to call in a paranormal activity team.
They revealed to Kerry the name of the spirit – and also a harrowing reason for the ghost’s presence.
She said: “We had a paranormal activity team at our house. It was about six years ago.
“They told us there was a man in the house called John and he wanted us to leave – and that he wanted my son Max.”
Kerry also admitted that she has experienced paranormal activity throughout her life and that she is a believer in all things spiritual, adding: “I’ve had this all my life, but the lights in the house constantly turn on and off.
“It happened in my old house and it’s been happening here, too. My bedroom is like a bloody disco!”
Jake Quickenden
I’m a Celeb 2014 runner up and former X-Factor star Jake Quickenden revealed that he once had to call in real life ghostbusters, after he feared that his house was haunted.
Speaking to Daily Star, the TV personality revealed that he had encountered activity including lights switching on and off on their own, and hearing footsteps at night.
He said: “We have got people coming round to see what’s happening.
“It’s about our house being haunted.
“Some weird stuff has been happening. There have been weird noises and lights are always turning on and off.”
Jake also explained that partner Sophie’s son Freddie keeps waking up as he can hear someone saying his name, adding: “Freddie keeps waking up and saying that he hears people whispering, ‘Freddie’ in his ear.
The star also admitted that he hopes the team could reveal that the spirits he is feeling are those of his late father and brother, saying: “I like to think it might be them. If the experts can tell us it’s them, I’ll be so happy.
“I’ll still s*** myself, but I’ll be happy.”
Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash
I’m a Celeb 2011 winner Stacey Solomon was once petrified that her house was haunted, after fans spotted a ‘ghost’ in a mirror at her home.
The Loose Women star was renovating her home with husband (and 2008 King of the Jungle) Joe Swash, when fans reacted to a story she shared on Instagram.
Fans flocked to point out the face to Stacey, who became worried after floods of comments came through – only for the so called ‘ghost’ to be revealed as something much less spooky.
Stacey took to Instagram once more to address the so-called spirit, revealing that the face in the mirror was actually her dad.
“Loads of you, are like, what’s that face in the mirror,” said a worried looking Stacey.
“And I thought Oh My God I’ve got a ghost. Then I looked around and realised..it’s only Dave, my dad.”
However, husband Joe has claimed that he has experienced real life paranormal activity in the house, with Joe telling Stacey on an episode of Celebrity Gogglebox that he has seen “shadows” in their living room.
He said: “This corner here, Stace. It’s a bit like a shadow goes past…”
Stacey did not seem so sure, replying: “I live here too, I’d notice shadows and children sitting in the corner, wouldn’t I?” to which Joe said: “You’re not as sensitive to it as I am, I’m finely tuned to it.”
