I'm A Celeb's Edwina Currie slams 'obnoxious' Boy George as she backs him for trial

Edwina Currie has revealed she thinks Boy George is a “pretty obnoxious person” – and has backed the singer to do more trials.

The former MP took part in the 2014 series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, where she joined the jungle with the likes of Melanie Sykes and Jake Quickenden.

But it seems Edwina, 76, has been watching this year’s series too as she aired her brutally honest views on the contestants during a chat with Lorraine Kelly on Monday (November 14).

And it’s clear she’s not the biggest fan of Boy George either as she slammed the iconic 80s singer during the ITV daytime show.

She told Lorraine: “I’d love to see Boy George, who last week is actually a pretty obnoxious person at the moment. I’d like to see him doing some of the trials. More of them.”

The former politician proceeded to say that she’d like to see some of the female campmates get involved in the trials and that the public will start losing interest if Matt Hancock keeps getting voted to do them.

Edwina explained: “It seems to me that if we go on having Matt Hancock doing it, the audience will drop off and that’s not a good thing for the show.”

Boy George shocked his campmates on Sunday night when he revealed he’d had a hair transplant after being inspired by footballer Wayne Rooney.

The pop star also ruled out ever doing Strictly Come Dancing as he suggested he wouldn’t be able to pull off the moves.

Seann asked Boy George in camp: “Would you do Strictly?”, to which the singer replied: “Never.”

Campmate Seann admitted: “The training is vigorous,” before the popstar admitted he’d not be able to do pull off some of the moves.

Boy George added: “When they do that funny thing when they sort of like… across the floor, I couldn’t do that.”
