I'm A Celeb's Matt Hancock red-faced after 'grabbing booty' in lockdown snog

Matt Hancock got a grilling about his affair on Thursday’s (November 10) episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.

The former health secretary made his jungle debut on Wednesday night (November 9), where he got a frosty reception from his fellow campmates.

The MP has attracted plenty of criticism for his controversial cameo on the ITV show, but he claims he’s doing it to show the “human side” of politicians like him.

But to the satisfaction of many, Mr Hancock hasn’t had the smoothest ride on the show and he was thrown straight into a trial on his first day.

He was then voted to take on the underwater Tentacles of Terror trial on Thursday, where he bagged 11 stars for camp.

But it seems the MP couldn’t avoid being teased by Babatúndé Aléshé on the awkward subject of his affair with Gina Colangelo.

Matt was left red-faced after Babatúndé told him he’d “messed up” with the scandal and later said he’d been “grabbing booty” on camera.

Babatúndé asked Matt: “How have things been?”, to which Matt replied: “It was really tough.”

The actor pressed: “Because you messed up,” prompting Matt to admit: “I messed up and I fessed up. I resigned and it’s no excuse but I fell in love, right? That also had a lot of other consequences obviously.”

Babatúndé then cheekily added: “You didn’t just ‘fell in love’ you were grabbing booty bruv!”

A rather embarrassed Matt responded: “Oh give over,” before Babatúndé laughed: “Sorry.”

Babatúndé was of course referring to the footage which emerged of Matt Hancock and his political aide Gina Colangelo kissing during the lockdown.

It had been published by The Sun and resulted in the former health secretary resigning, given that he was married at the time and had broken his own lockdown rules.

Matt said: “You are a comedian,” before explaining: “That’s been hard, I obviously brought it on myself, so yeah… it’s been tough.”

“Are you still with the lady?”, asked Babatúndé, to which Matt replied: “With Gina? Yeah very much so, yeah, totally. That’ll be the best thing about being kicked out, seeing her on the bridge.”

Babatúndé said: “Look man, I don’t judge you bruv. I may take the p*ss out of you,” where Matt laughed: “I don’t mind that.”

He later told the cameras that the chat was embarrassing for Matt.

I’m A Celeb airs Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV.
