Influencer Elle Darby issues another grovelling apology after resurfaced racist tweets

Influencer Elle Darby has issued another grovelling apology to fans after racist and fat-phobic tweets resurfaced.

The 26-year-old YouTuber gave a statement on Monday to her 770,000 followers on Instagram after old messages from 10 years ago came back to light.

The mum-of-one insulted various minority groups and used racial slurs on social media.

Now the tweets have been widely shared in the form of screenshots.

Elle and her influencer fiancé Connor Swift have faced backlash and they sparked anger over the tweets, with some still visible on a Twitter account.

In her latest YouTube video, she revealed she will be taking a break from social media and stressed how “disgusting” she finds her “awful tweets.”

Elle said: “I’ve tried to film this video so many times and every time is not good enough because there are no words to tell you how sorry I am.

“The tweets I made in 2009 were so disgusting, and so far from the person I am today, they were racist, fatphobic, homophobic – I am ashamed, I am disgusted at myself.”

The family and lifestyle blogger could be seen wearing a grey jumper and scraped her hair back into a low bun.

She continued: “There is not one person on the planet who hates me more than I do right now. The pain I have caused to so many of you eats me up.

“To know that I was someone who you considered a great friend and this image of me is now tainted. I don’t even recognise myself to have been [that person].

“I hope you can see this is not the person I am today. I know those disgusting words and awful tweets will always be associated with my name. Since I made those tweets I have had better education in these last ten years.

“I have let down everybody there is no more humiliating feeling than that, I want to say once again I’m sorry.”

Elle went on to announce she will be taking a social media break, she said: “I will be taking a little time offline to further reflect on what’s happened to process a situation I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive myself for.”

Several of the shocking tweets made reference to skin colour, another used the n-word and others also hinted at harming animals, as well as themes of bullying, fatphobia, and wishing death upon bus drivers.

One tweet from the account @EllenorDarby said in 2011: “Why do foreign people follow me? I don’t speak your grunts, meatheads.”

Another said: “I much prefer my pretty four Labrador retrievers to my ugly, spiteful, mongrel cat. That b***h can go back to the RSPCA.”

The British influencer was also caught saying: “I really miss my laptop. Wish that effin charger from HK (Hong Kong) would hurry up. Come on ch***s, you’re upsetting me.”

The messages resurfaced during the Christmas holidays as fans shared their anger.

One wrote: “For the age she was, she was old enough to not say such disgusting things. It’s not like it’s just one tweet either. That is not okay.”

Another added: “It’s not even like it’s one or two things she may have tweeted without thinking, there are literally HUNDREDS of shocking tweets and it’s so disappointing.”

A third said: “I’m actually appalled.”
