Craig Tinker is on a mission in Coronation Street, after he makes a bet with fellow resident Tyrone Dobbs.
He bets Tyrone £20 that he can find the original owner of a wooden crutch that has been left on the street, and uses his investigating skills to try and solve the mystery.
Along with a little help from Roy Cropper and his trusty binoculars, will Craig find the owner? And why was Faye disheartened when he was talking about his plan? Viewers will have to wait and see.
Since joining Coronation Street in 2011 as Craig Tinker, actor Colson Smith has gone on an incredible journey both on screen and off screen, particularly over the past two years when he showed off his amazing weight loss transformation.
Weight loss transformation
Colson Smith has gone through an incredible weight loss transformation in the past two years, with Coronation Street viewers wowed by his new appearance.
He also documented his weight loss journey in the YouTube documentary, Bored of Being The Fat Kid, and told Runners World: “I was always the fat kid. It’s kind of the identity I ended up with.
“I was ready to kind of change that and move on from it.”
Colson revealed on This Morning that he had been playing the same character on Coronation Street since he was 11 years old, and that along with show producers, they decided to write in a weight loss transformation for Craig.
The actor added that he had always wanted to lose his weight and challenged himself to do so at the end of 2019.
He then took up running during the pandemic, telling BBC news: “When I’m sad I run, when I’m happy I run, if I’m anxious I run.
“I’m completely alone and isolated but I’m looking after myself when I’m running.”
Talking on Lorraine in 2021, he also revealed some of the secrets behind his weight loss, in addition to running, which including working with a life coach, liaising with a gym in Manchester and sticking to a meal plan.
He said: “I have my breakfast and lunches delivered, and they’re still being delivered now, which means cooking I don’t have to think about, I can just eat.
“And in terms of the gym, I’ve kind of kept in touch with the gym I’ve been going to in Manchester because they’re putting on lots of training programmes on their app.
“I’ve done the odd Joe Wicks PE, and then it’s just making the most out of the situation.”
His hard work paid off, as Colson has lost an incredible 10st throughout his weight loss journey and has inspired others to take up running for their health and wellbeing too.
Trolling
When Colson Smith first joined Coronation Street in 2011 as Craig Tinker as a teenager, he went online to gauge the reaction of fans to his performance.
Sadly however, vicious trolls left abusive messages online that commented on his appearance more so than his performance, which the actor has said will stay with him for the rest of his life.
He told BBC news: “The comments I saw, and the comments which stuck with me, were about the way I look.
“That was something that I’ve had every single day of my life for the past 10 years and I will continue to have throughout my career.”
Despite the abuse he received online, Colson has said that he received support from the ITV team and the Coronation Street cast, which helped him to deal with the negative comments.
Co-star bonds
Colson Smith has a close off-screen bond with Tyrone Dobbs actor Alan Halsall, with the two regularly sharing photos of them working out together on social media.
Posting a photo alongside Colson Smith in the gym, Alan said in the caption: “Trying to work out whilst laughing at @colsonjsmith having fun & working hard.”
Like Colson, Alan Halsall has also gone through his own body transformation, taking up weight training to lose inches and tone his body.
He has also previously revealed he works out with a personal trainer four or five times a week, and in his spare time to keep fit, he also goes hiking, plays badminton and cycles.
Major milestone
Colson shared a huge milestone on Instagram recently, when he posted a photograph of himself exercising, with the caption: “Two years a runner.”
He added: “10th January 2020 I went on my first run… 3086kms later and I’m still loving every km. I’ve learned so much about myself while pounding the trails and pavements wherever I find myself.
“It’s always a good day to run.”
Shortly after, fans took to social media to congratulate the star, with one saying: “Go you! You’re a real life filter free inspiration!” while a second added: “Go Craigy (as Beth would say!) well done mate.”
A third fan also shared how Colson Smith had inspired them, saying: “Amazing. You are the very reason why I started running and I have never looked back. Thank you.”
Colson’s Coronation Street co-stars also praised the star, with Sophie Webster actress Brooke Vincent saying: “So proud of you.”
Todd Grimshaw actor Gareth Pierce added: “Happy runniversary lad!”
