Former Home and Away star Anna May Samson has had quite the hectic few years both on and off screen.
The 32-year-old actress has enjoyed a short but memorable role as Summer Bay resident Mia Anderson on the Australian soap over the past two years.
She recently departed the series and her character Mia is set to make an emotional exit.
It follows the tragic death of Mia’s husband Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams), who passed away from terminal cancer shortly after the pair were married.
In her own life, Anna has dealt with toxic trolls and navigated a romance with her on-screen co-star Lee Jones.
Daily Star takes a look into her life.
Trolling hell
In March last year, Anna opened up about the horrendous trolling she had been subjected to after it was announced that she would be joining Home and Away.
In a statement posted to Instagram, the actress slammed the “culture of online bullying” and pleaded with trolls to “find something better to do”.
She wrote: “People still feel they have the right to shame, comment on and harass women about their appearance.
“I’d suggest to these social media bullies to find something better to do with their time.
“You are guilty of contribution to a very problematic and dangerous culture.”
Soap exit
Anna’s Home and Away character Mia is set to bid farewell to the soap after struggling to move on from her husband Ari’s tragic death.
While Mia’s daughter Chloe (Sam Barrett) originally convinced her to give life in Summer Bay without Ari another chance, Mia eventually realised that life on the coast without Ari is simply too painful.
With Chloe’s blessing, Mia is gifted a one-way to New Zealand by Ari’s brother Tane (Ethan Browne) and seizing on the opportunity for closure, makes her exit from Home and Away after an emotional farewell dinner with her loved ones.
Her daughter, meanwhile, stays behind.
Co-star romance
While Anna’s Home and Away character Mia endured heartbreak on-screen when her husband Ari died, Anna herself had a happier romance with one of her co-stars.
The actress had been going steady with fellow actor Lee Jones, who played Ambulance Officer Luke in a 2021 episode of the soap.
The pair began dating after meeting on the set of 2017 mini-series Wake in Fright.
Their current relationship status remains unknown, as the pair have been surreptitiously missing from each other’s social media feeds since April 2021.
