Inside Sharon Osbourne's X Factor split after branded 'too old' by Simon Cowell

Sharon Osbourne has previously spoken out against her former X Factor co-star and fellow judge Simon Cowell after she claimed he let her go because she was “too old”.

The 69-year-old left the show in 2019 and spoke about the move on her show The Talk.

The presenter, who is married to rock star Ozzy Osbourne, was friends with Simon Cowell for many years before their altercation.

Sharon and Simon appeared on The X Factor with fellow long serving judge and music mogul Louis Walsh.

The fourth spot on the show was reserved mainly for guest judges, most notably Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue.

Read on to discover how Sharon and Simon’s friendship hit the rocks after he booted her from the show.

Sharon admitted that she was asked to judge The Masked Singer but rejected the offer as she was due to return to the UK version of The X Factor.

However, she was unable to fulfil either role after Simon stopped her from coming back to judge the popular singing competition.

She spoke about the situation: “I was signed on to do another show at the time. I was signed and I had to go to England, then Simon Cowell changed his mind and thought I was too old.”

Sassy Sharon had a message for Simon upon her departure: “If you want young, fire yourself and get rid of those man [boobs], you’ll be fine.”

However, a Facebook post on her official page said otherwise.

In a statement made on her account, Sharon said that she had been watching the “new season of X Factor unfold” and that she had noticed the new judges “finding their rhythm” as she praised them for “doing brilliantly”.

She continued on to say that Simon was “gracious to find her a spot on the live shows” but admitted herself that she “didn’t think she was needed” on the show, resulting in the decision to “pass on the series” that year.

Osbourne signed off by wishing the show “continued success” and told fans they would “have to do without her this season”.
