ITV Corrie fans fume as BGT semi-finals force viewers to choose between soaps

Soap fans are in uproar after the week-long Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals have forced viewers to choose between their favourite shows.

BBC’s EastEnders is now being aired at the same time as ITV’s Coronation Street, two soaps that usually air at different times allowing viewers to enjoy both soaps on a live broadcast.

But millions of soap fans are now being forced to choose which soap they want to watch as the talent show and the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations take over the airwaves and shake up the TV schedule.

One fan fumed on Twitter: “Four nights running now that Corrie & EastEnders have been screened at the same f***ing time to accommodate Britain’s Got Talent. Programme schedulers don’t f***ing care about viewers SORT IT OUT YOU F***ING W***ERS.”

Another quipped: “Some of us watch Corrie and Enders and everything has to move coz of BGT. So annoying!”

ITV game shows Tipping Point and The Chase also aired at a later time this week as part of a listings shake-up due to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

Brits are enjoying a four-day weekend as the nation enjoys the historic royal celebrations, this means a number of daytime quiz shows will air at unusual times.

Tipping Point aired at 4.35pm today because of an earlier film showing which will see Tenable pushed back to a later time.

On Friday Tipping Point: Best Ever Finals will air at 4.30pm.

Tipping Point will still be followed on both days by The Chase, which will air at 5.35pm and 5.30pm respectively.

All BBC and ITV shows are expected to return to their normal slot next week when both Britain’s Got Talent and the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations end.

Bank holidays usually see channels shake up their regular programming with films and programmes that are more family-orientated, meaning some existing programmes will be moved or cancelled.

The long weekend will be host to a selection of celebrations across the UK in recognition of the Queen’s 70th anniversary as the head of the British monarchy.

Events to air nationwide in the coming days are The National Lottery’s Big Jubilee Street Party, the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday hosted by Kirsty Young and Roman Kemp and The Platinum Jubilee Pageant which will air Sunday, June 5 on BBC at 1pm.
