ITV stars Sam Faiers and Billie Shepherd's mum hospitalised in terrifying sepsis battle

Sam Faiers and sister Billie Shepherd have revealed their mother Suzie Fellows was rushed to hospital with a life-threatening sepsis infection.

TOWIE stars Sam, 31, and Billie, 32, have opened up about their mum’s terrifying ordeal after she contracted sepsis and “massively deteriorated”

The pair explained that Suzie, 53, began to “massively” deteriorate when a water infection spread to her kidneys, which resulted in a dash to A+E where she was told she had contracted sepsis.

“I’ve had a bit of a week,” Billie revealed on their podcast, The Sam & Billie Show.

“Our mum wasn’t very well. It started last week, she had a water infection and it got worse and worse which resulted in going into mum’s kidneys.

“So we took her to A+E because she massively deteriorated.”

The siblings said their parent was experiencing excruciating back pains and was “delirious” before doctors diagnosed her.

Billie added: “She had antibiotics and it wasn’t working. I managed to speak to a doctor and I told him all of her symptoms so he told me to take her to A&E because she needs medical attention.

“Basically the water infection had got so bad that it turned into sepsis.”

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused when the body releases chemicals to fight an infection.

These chemicals damage the body’s own tissues and organs and can lead to shock, organ failure and death.

Sam then explained their panic revealing: “She was so unwell. Feverish, being sick, weak, pains in her back and delirious.

“As her daughters we had to make the decision.”

Suzie is now home and has recovered from her ordeal, with the sisters adding: “Mum was in the hospital for about 15 hours in total and they flushed her system through.

“She’s on the mend which is really good.”

It follows a series of health scares for the family. The pair’s estranged father Lee was said to be “lucky to be alive after suffering a heart attack” just weeks ago.

And just last month, Sam opened up about the ‘painful’ struggles following the birth of her baby boy Edward back in May.

The star was left with a sore back and tension in her neck and shoulders after looking after her youngest child.

“It was getting to the point where in the night and just throughout the day, it was actually really painful. And I don’t want to take painkillers, so I was like maybe I need to have some massages.”

She has since enlisted the help of a sports therapist to try and relieve the pain.
