ITV weather presenter Lucy Verasamy has paid tribute to her colleague Jon Mitchell as he retired after 33 years of telling viewers whether it would be wet or sunny.
The screen legend, 62, stepped down at the end of July, saying he was excited about spending more time with his family and conducting “extensive research” on some of his local pubs.
Lucy, 42, said farewell to the meteorologist in a sweet post on Twitter.

“After over 3 decades(!) presenting the weather – the most modest, knowledgeable @JonMitchellTV will be missed,” she wrote.
Jon, who was first on screen in 1989, announced his retirement earlier this year.
He said the job had been “an absolute pleasure” and that he had worked with “wonderful people”.
“People often ask me what the best part of my job is,” he said.
“It’s talking with people that I wouldn’t otherwise talk to because they recognise me – I love this because everyone has a story to tell.
“It’s also being able to gaze up at the sky and class it as research. I always say to people, ‘Look up – it’s free!'”
Viewers agreed that Jon would leave a big hole.
One tweeted: “All the very best John. Your forecasts are always essential viewing for us Yorkshire folk who work outdoors – we’ll miss them – and you.”
Another said: “Enjoy retirement will miss you telling us when it’s a good day to get washing dry.”
“Congratulations on your retirement @JonMitchellITV,” wrote another fan. “You’ve always presented in style. Good luck for the future!”
One person said said Jon was “a force of broadcasting with a great sense of humour”.
