Ivana Trump threw subtle shade at Melania as she eyed-up First Lady job

Ivana Trump has died aged 73, it has been confirmed.

The first wife of President Donald Trump remained in contact with the former The Apprentice businessman and had direct contact with him – even during his stint in The White House.

Despite divorcing in 1992, they played a major part in one another’s lives, sharing three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric, as well as ten grandchildren.

But while Ivana once said she didn’t want to cause any jealousy between Donald and his wife Melania, she also admitted she would have been a fantastic First Lady during his time in office.

Speaking previously on Loose Women in 2020, Ivana was asked by Ruth Langsford if she wished she’d have been stood alongside Donald at his inauguration.

She told the host: “I really don’t like the politics that much and I would do great job in The White House but it’s not in my inspiration.

“I’m in a stage of my life that I do what I want to do, I go wherever I want to go, with whomever I want to go with and I can afford it, thank God.

“I’m right to be free.”

However, Ivana revealed she had a relationship with Donald’s third and current wife, Melania, saying: “No, I speak directly to Mr President.

“I don’t get involved with the ex-wives and his private life, we talk about our children, sometimes we talk about work economics but I don’t give him advice, I tell him what I feel is right and wrong.”

Ivana didn’t have much to say on Melania when asked if she was a good First Lady, saying: “I’m not sure, she’s very quiet, she doesn’t go to too many places, she goes to stuff she has to go, but she’s quiet.”

But while Ivana was Donald’s first wife, she revealed that she often had members of the secret service protecting her.

When asked whether she fears for her safety due to her close relationship with Donald, she said: “I am and I am very, very careful and when I go to some occasions, I do have the secret service but I don’t want them all around.

Reflecting on seeing her husband of 15 years being sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, she gushed: “I was very, very proud.

“He was my husband of 15 years, I wish him all the best, I can see him do a great job, he’s brought everything which I believe in.”

Confirming her death, her former husband took to his social media platform, Truth Social, writing: “I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City.

“She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life.

“Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”
