BAFTA winner Lashana Lynch has revealed she would absolutely return if asked to star in the next James Bond film.
The Rising Star award recipient spoke exclusively to the Daily Star in the winners’ room conference after she accepted her award on Sunday (March 13).
When asked if she would return in a future Bond film, she said: “Can you imagine I was like ‘errr…’
“I would, I don’t know if it’s happening but I would return. I’ve had a really good time working with the team. And Nomi is a character that you can’t get enough of, she feels like your friend and I look forward to meeting my friend again.”
Talking about her strong female character in Bond, she shared that she often receives messages from other women to praise her for her 007 role.
She added: “I’m so glad that Nomi even exists for them to ask questions. It’s a really big deal.
“Even though, with the work being done now I hoped that my parent’s generation would have been able to experience that. But for me, in my generation, and being able to celebrate it, it’s an honour and a privilege.”
Though she did admit to receiving some hate too as the first female in her role.
Lashana continued: “I expected the world to react exactly how they reacted. I encourage the dislike, the non-support, and the work that the industry and the world needs to do.
“I’m grateful for everyone who sent a bad message because it encouraged me to send even better messages to the people who support Nomi.”
This came after fellow BAFTA winners and No Time To Die film editors Tom Cross and Elliot Graham said Idris Elba is “too old” to be the next James Bond.
They took home the gong for Editing on the night for the 2021 blockbuster, which was actor Daniel Craig’s last film as the title character.
Daniel spent the past 15 years of his life playing James Bond, however, it is time for a new face.
Talking about who could play Bond next, Elliot Graham said: “I honestly think that had he been ten years younger than Daniel, Idris Elba would be playing the next Bond but as they’re a similar age then that’s the thing.
“But I don’t know someone amazing, because Daniel is hard to follow.”
