Jennifer Aniston shares sweet tribute to late colleague after 'tragic death'

Jennifer has played Alex Levy in the TV drama since 2019 and was joined by a large cast and crew since her debut – including the rate Gunnar Mortensen.

As Jennifer shared two photos of him, one with his son and another with his son and partner, she wrote: “This past week we suddenly and tragically lost Gunnar Mortensen.

“One of the bright lights on our @thismorningshow set. As camera assistant, he was so skilled and dedicated to his job.

“In memory of Gunnar, a page has been set up to help raise funds for his wife, Keely, and his 2-year-old son, Lars, during this difficult time.

“We are going to miss you Gunnar.”

Jennifer then shared a link to the GoFundMe page which read: “Local 600 mourns the passing of Gunnar Mortensen, a camera assistant who died on Monday, July 4, from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.

“Gunnar is survived by his wife, Keely, and their 2-year-old son, Lars.”

People were encouraged to donate to lend a helping hand towards the family, with a $20,000 (£16,650) target – but the target has been absolutely smashed.

At the time of publication $127,589 (£106,268) has been raised in just two days.

Gunnar and Jennifer knew one another after working together on The Morning Show, a drama surrounding the ins and outs of morning TV in the US.

In season one Jennifer Aniston’s character Alex Levy fights to keep her job and starts a rivalry with her new co-star (Reese Witherspoon) who makes impulsive decisions in TV journalism.

In season two, the network CEO convinced Alex to return as the Covid-19 pandemic spreads throughout the US.

There are plenty of recurring and guest roles, but Jennifer and Reese act as the two leading ladies of the series – and after an impressive run it managed to land multiple awards.

The Morning Show is expected to release season 3 on Apple TV+ in upcoming months.
