Jeremy Clarkson isn't fussed about rising heating costs as people can 'adapt' to cold

Jeremy Clarkson has insisted he isn’t that fussed about rising heating costs and reckons people can try to “retrain” their bodies when it comes to temperature.

The Top Gear and Grand Tour star, 62, shared his thoughts in The Sun.

He said his dad didn’t like wasting money and when Jeremy was young and would say he was chilly, he would tell him to jump into bed and warm up.

As he didn’t necessarily want to get into bed he learned to like being cold and these days hates being hot.

“Gas price increases? They don’t bother me, as I won’t be needing gas,” he wrote.

“Heating oil is three times more than it was three years ago? Don’t care. You may think that you could never live like this, but I think you can. You just need to retrain your body.”

Jeremy then pointed out that if people were to climb into a fridge for a bit their kitchen would feel toasty afterwards.

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire star advised: “In short, forget 75F. Make 62F your new normal.”

Fans had mixed feelings about the TV star’s remarks.

One quipped on Twitter: “Millionaire not worried by bills. In other news, fish not concerned about drowning.”

Another agreed: “I don’t care either, but then again I’m sensible and don’t lay around in a t-shirt with the heating on for 12 hours like the majority of pampered people.”

Someone else said: “In part I agree, I think we’ve got a bit spoilt, we use resources like they’re nothing.

“I am using this experience to try and retrain myself when I had absolutely no consideration before for walking around in a t-shirt with snow outside, but God I worry for the vulnerable.”
