John Travolta paid tribute to his friend and former Pulp Fiction co-star Bruce Willis following the actor’s aphasia diagnosis.
The 67-year-old Die Hard star is quitting his established acting career after being diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that affects his cognitive abilities.
In an Instagram post Travolta, 68, who also starred in rom-com Look Who’s Talking with Willis, praised the “generous soul”.
Travolta penned: “Bruce and I became good friends when we shared 2 of our biggest hits together, Pulp Fiction and Look Who’s Talking.
“Years later he said to me, ‘John, I just want you to know that when something good happens to you I feel like it’s happening to me.’ That’s how generous a soul he is. I love you Bruce.”
The post contained two photos of the actors together, including one of them wearing black as they posed with Willis’ arm around Travolta’s shoulder.
It comes after Willis’ supportive family revealed the blockbuster actor will be “stepping away” from acting after the diagnosis.
The Willis family shared the news on Instagram alongside a sweet snap of the award-winning Hollywood star.
They wrote: “To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.
“As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
His loving family went on to say that it “is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support”.
They added: “We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that.”
Over his impressive 44-year career in the film industry, the actor has taken home numerous accolades including a Golden Globe Award and two Emmy Awards.
