Telly judge Robert Rinder has slammed David Beckham for pocketing £10million to plug the World Cup in Qatar.
The Good Morning Britain presenter added that the decision to stage the tournament in the oppressive Middle East nation was a “disgrace”.
Robert, 44, said: “That’s not just about LGBTQ. It’s about the 6,500 workers who died.’’

“It is tragic that we are about to have the World Cup in Qatar. We need to do the best, all of us, to highlight all of the issues I’m talking about.
“We can’t bury our heads in the sand. You know this is about money, not about the purity or love of the game. What a tragic moment that is.’’
Judge Rinder also pointed out that in Qatar, Becks’ 11-year-olddaughter Harper “would not be able to continue with her education without the permission of a male relative”.
The criminal barrister does not believe Qatar will fix its human right laws – which include three-year jail sentences for homosexuality – just because of the World Cup.
The Spurs fan said “we know from history” that nations do not improve after staging such events, citing the 2008 Beijing Olympics and Russia ’s hosting of the 2018 footie tournament.
Robert believes there should be basic requirements nations should comply with before being allowed to host such prestigious competitions.
He also claimed the former England footy ace was “putting money before morals”.
Last month Beckham, 47, released a promotional video describing the Middle East nation as “perfection”.
David was seen filming around the country, hopping aboard a sailing boat and visiting a spice market as he filmed a 30-minute video for Visit Qatar.
He said in the advert: “Qatar really is an incredible place to spend a few days on a stopover. This is perfection. I cannot wait to bring my children back here.”
Qatar has banned same-sex intercourse and women are required to have a male “guardian’s” permission before they marry or study abroad on government scholarships.
