President Joe Biden is set to will welcome K-Pop sensations BTS to the White House on Wednesday to speak at an event on anti-Asian hate crime.
The global superstars will speak to Biden about the ‘importance of diversity and inclusion’ amid a rise in Asian hate crimes, as figures show a staggering 339 per cent rise in 2021 compared to 2020.
A White House statement read: “President Biden and BTS will also discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion and BTS’ platform as youth ambassadors who spread a message of hope and positivity across the world.”

The group are the latest celebrities the White House has turned to on their agenda after Jill Biden welcomed Selena Gomez to talk about mental health and the president had the Jonas Brothers appear in a video on vaccines.
Biden is facing some criticism amid the announcement as a distraught community still awaits an announcement on his visit to Uvalde, Texas, where a gunman shot and killed 19 school children and two teachers.

The president has said he would travel to Uvalde ‘in the coming days.’
Last week, Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris condemned attacks against minority Asian communities at a White House event on Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
“Hate can have no safe harbor in America. And every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect,” Biden said.

A shooting at a Taiwanese southern California church that killed one and injured five earlier this month is now being investigated as a hate crime, as is a shooting at a Dallas salon this month that wounded three women of Asian descent.
In an effort to connect with his younger voter base, Biden has brought a whole host of TikTok stars and celebrities into the White House orbit.
In October Biden famously invited teen sensation Olivia Rodrigo, best known for her hit song ‘Driver’s License,’ to the White House to talk about vaccines with him and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Rodrigo made a surprise appearance in the briefing room with then-press secretary Jen Psaki.
Comedian James Corden took part in a skit with Psaki and Biden that was played at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
