Kate Garraway and Ben fight tears as they pay moving tribute to GMB guest after death

Good Morning Britain presenters Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard were left devastaed after they paid tribute to beloved Isla Caton following her tragic death from cancer.

The hosts were clearly choked up during the latest episode of the popular morning programme after they revealed that Isla’s parents had announced the seven-year-old’s death on Twitter.

Opening the show with the devastating news on the young West Ham supporter, Ben, 47, said: “We are going to start with some sad news, though many of our viewers I’m sure will remember our guest seven year old Isla.

“Very sadly Isla’s family posted this tweet on Tuesday.”

Things became emotional on GMB

Reading a statement from the family, Kate, 54, said: “It is with the heaviest of broken hearts that we must announce Isla gained her angel wings. It was very peaceful and surrounded by the continued love of Nicola, Michael, and Millie.”

She then added: “Very sad but wonderful for her and her family that she got to see some of that love.”

Adding to the conversation, Ben’s voice became shaky as he read a tribute from West Ham legend Mark Noble, which read: “I was first introduced to Isla when I carried her out as a mascot in Bournemouth in 2018, it was very clear she was a very special girl.

“She will never be forgotten, she will be part of the West Ham family forever. Rest In Peace, little Isla.”

The presenter then said: “And we share those sentiments from Mark to Isla and her family.”

Isla, who lived in Essex with her family, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, high-risk neuroblastoma at the age of two.

However, the young footie fan had been bravely battling neuroblastoma for almost five years of her life.

Neuroblastoma is an aggressive form of childhood cancer and is the same condition young Sunderland fan Bradley Lowery suffered with.

Isla’s mother Nikki lead the family’s fundraising campaign since her daughter was diagnosed with the horrible condition.

The family managed to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds to help fund treatment and trials in the UK, Barcelona and America.

They even united fans of fierce rivals West Ham and Millwall while Isla was still alive.
