Kate Garraway has revealed an emotional moment she shared with her husband Derek Draper.

The Good Morning Britain presenter took to Instagram to share a sweet snap which showed her relaxing in the garden with her hubby Derek and her son Billy.

Captioning the snap, Kate said: “At last I can share with you a wonderful personal challenge on @itv at 8pm tonight – can you #GrowYourselfWell?!

She went on: “It started out as a kind of therapy – gardening & nature helped distract me when life felt on the edge and then, thanks to the team @loveyourgarden, I took it a step further & turned our garden into a beautiful factory for physical healing too.”

The former I’m A Celebrity star later explained the “emotional moment” when her team let her carry Derek out into the garden so he could see the “fruits of our labour”.

Kate continued: “I really hope you feel inspired & comforted by the programme – do let me know!!!”

The Good Morning Britain star has discovered a love for gardening whilst nursing her husband Derek

It comes after Kate spoke about how gardening has acted as a source of joy to her as she looks after her husband.

She said: “We want to make the garden into something more than just space to be. I really want to grow some plants that will actually improve our health and wellbeing,” she says on an upcoming episode of Alan Titchmarsh’s Love Your Garden.

“If you look past the initial beauty of the plants, it can give you so much more. I haven’t quite proved you can grow yourself well but I think I’ve definitely learnt you can grow yourself happier, ” she added.

The recent episode of her show sees Kate learning about the medicinal benefits of plants at Kew Gardens.

Kate’s husband Derek spent 374 days in hospital after contracting Covid in 2020, suffering horrific issues including organ failure and lung clots.

It’s also possible he may never walk again as the muscles and tendons in his legs have seized up as a result of his induced coma.

Kate and Derek tied the knot in 2005 – after the pair were introduced by a mutual friend, GMTV political editor Gloria De Piero.

Derek’s journey to recovery can be seen in Kate’s moving ITV documentary, Caring for Derek, which is the follow-up to the award-winning film Finding Derek.
