Katie Price says she wants to become a paramedic because of her 'special gift'

Katie Price has said she wants to train to become a paramedic — and believes she has a ‘special gift’ that would help her meet the demands of the job.

The former glamour model, 43, cared around the clock for her 19-year-old son Harvey before he moved out last year.

He required constant attention after he was born septo-optic dysplasia, Prader-Willi syndrome, autism and a learning disability

Now Katie has told the Radio Times that her experience looking after Harvey would prepare for life as as paramedic, as she would be able to deal with people who have special needs.

Discussing how others approach people with complex issues, the mum-of-three said: “They don’t know how to act. It can be daunting. You just have to talk to people like you do in the street.

After revealing that she “was training to be a nurse” when she left school, Katie also divulged that she would “train as a paramedic now if I could find the time.”

Describing how she cared for Harvey, she added: ‘Whatever people think of me, whether they love me or hate me, you can’t fake that relationship. I know I’m a good mum and he’s a credit to me. No one can take that away from me. Not a lot of people would cope like I have.’

A new show about Harvey which debuts tonight shows him struggling to adjust with his new surroundings as he faces an emotional goodbye with his mum Katie, leading to an outburst in the Cheltenham school.

The Mirror reports that an upset Harvey lashes out in the school shop, bashing his head against the wall before falling to the floor and crying.

Harvey’s carers soon manage to calm him down by telling him to “use his words” and to take deep breaths, with the team telling Harvey that leaving his dorm room is important so he can move forward in life.

Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next airs on BBC One on Monday March 7 at 9pm.
