Katie Price 'won't survive prison if she's jailed', former lag claims

Katie Price will not “survive” if she is banged up behind bars, according to an ex-con campaigning for prison reform.

Farah Damji fears the TV star, model and author would be targeted by fellow lags looking to make a name for themselves.

She is worried cell life will be too “dangerous” for such a famous face and Katie needs protecting.

Katie, 43, faces up to five years in jail after being accused of sending an abusive text in breach of a restraining order barring her from contacting her ex-husband’s fiancee.

But Farah – who campaigns for female prisoners’ rights through magazine The View – warned jail is not the answer for the thrice-wed mum-of-five.

“Prison would be absolutely brutal for Katie inside,’’ she said.

“She can’t go to prison – she won’t survive it.

“She’s such a high profile person and I can’t think of a woman ever with her profile who has gone to prison. I think it will be dangerous.

“There are some women who are dangerous – who need to be in prison – and I think they would make a target of her.”

In December, Katie was given a 16-week suspended sentence for drink-driving while disqualified with no insurance after flipping her BMW near her home.

She told police at the crash scene: “I took drugs. I should not be driving. I admit it all.’”

But she escaped immediate custody by checking into rehab.

She avoided another court appearance on Monday after a £7,358 fine she owed was paid.

Price had been listed to appear at Crawley Magistrates Court for non-payment of the penalty dating back to January 2019.

Court staff later confirmed the three-year-old fine had been settled and she no longer had to attend.

Friends still fear for her fate following her arrest on Saturday after she allegedly branded her ex Kieran Hayler’s fiancee Michelle Penticost a “c***ing w***e piece of s***’ and a “gutter slag” in a text message.

In 2019, a court order barred Katie from contacting Michelle, 39, who has a baby son with 34-year-old Kieran “directly or indirectly” following a four-letter tirade in a playground.

Instead of throwing her in jail Farah believes more attention should be given to Price outside of jail.

She said: “She needs support.”

Farah, 55, spent 25 years in and out of prison and says she was repeatedly denied mental health care at three of British women’s jails.
