Kerry Katona says she couldn't afford kids' school uniforms during bankruptcy concerns

Kerry Katona has opened up about the financial struggles she faced in the past, including how at one point, she was unable to afford her children’s school uniforms.

The former Atomic Kitten singer, 41, has been declared bankrupt twice, once in 2008 and again in 2013, due to tax reasons.

Taking part in the Sun’s Dear Deidrie podcast, Kerry discussed how she also struggled to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic.

She said: “I couldn’t afford to pay my rent. I thought, ‘Oh my God, how am I going to feed the kids?'”

The mother-of-five discussed the impact that her money problems had on her mental health, to the point where she was having suicidal thoughts.

“There’s been times when I’ve been ­wanting to drive my car off a bridge because I think, ‘How am I going to clothe these five kids?’ I understand the anxiety over money.”

However, since joining OnlyFans during the pandemic, Kerry’s money worries have become a thing of the past.

Her new stream of income led to her taking delivery of a new lime green £170,000 Lamborghini earlier this month.

But she was quick to point out that she wasn’t doing it for bragging rights, stating: “This isn’t about bragging. You’ve all seen my story. You’ve all seen my at my lowest, where I could have died, I should have died.

“I took loads of drugs… I can’t believe I’m alive.

“At the start of the pandemic, I thought ‘how am I going to feed me kids’, just like everybody else.”

She also made a point that she had not forgotten her humble beginnings of when she stayed in a refuge shelter as a child, saying: “We had no Christmas presents, no furniture, but then the refuge dropped off a bag of second-hand stuff and I was eternally grateful.

“Now look what we’ve received.”
