Liam Gallagher is known for his quick wit and sarcasm but his performance at the Etihad Stadium had fans feeling rather emotional as he reflected on his Oasis days.
The legendary rocker, 49, took to the stage in his home city in front of a sold-out crowd of almost 60,000 of us, all having the time of our lives.
Never one to disappoint, the dad-of-three performed some of his solo hits as well as songs from his Oasis days, ensuring everybody was enjoying themselves.
Just days before his latest album, C’mon You Know, is set to top the charts, the iconic performer took it in his stride as he stepped out in front of the packed crowd, saying: “Yes Manchester,” before belting out his song Hello.
But just several minutes into his set, the crowd of bouncing bodies erupted into a roar of cheers before his second track, Rock ‘N’ Roll Star.
“This is for our Bonehead,” he said as he paid a touching tribute to his Oasis bandmate who is currently battling cancer.
Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs is currently undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy to treat his tonsil cancer.
While fans may have been jumping up and down throughout the show, the packed audience came together and wrapped their arms around one another for Stand By Me.
But while Liam may have been entertaining the crowds, his son Gene also took the spotlight with some noticing the 20-year-old on the drums as well as sharing a special view from the stage.
As the night began to draw to a close over a stunning sunset, the sea of music lovers had their phones and lights in the air as they all belted out the Oasis classic, Wonderwall before Champagne Supernova.
“Don’t listen to anyone who says this stuff is f***ing bad for you,” he exclaimed before rocking out to Cigarettes and Alcohol.
Liam’s performance was just two days before he returns to Knebworth, just like he did in 1996 with Oasis, where he’ll be performing to two sell-out crowds of 250,000 punters.
While he may be considering a double hip replacement due to his arthritis, Liam didn’t let this get in his way as he took in the crowd throughout the night before flashing a grin.
Speaking about potentially going under the knife, he told Zoe Ball’s Radio 2, Breakfast Show: “I might go and ruin my career at Knebworth and go start doing some high kicks like Jagger, and everyone’s going like that, ‘I want my money back, we only come to see him stand still.
“But I’m going to have to have the operation next year maybe, but can’t be getting it done before Knebworth.”
