Liam Payne hits out as troll says girlfriend is with him just for his 'money'

Liam Payne has hit back at a troll who accused his new girlfriend Kate Cassidy of being with him “just for the money”.

The One Direction singer – estimated to be worth £58million – is dating blonde beauty Kate after splitting from Maya Henry for a second time earlier this year.

After Liam, 29, stepped out with Kate at a red carpet event recently, it seems some have been sharing their thoughts in his Instagram DMs.

The X Factor star shared a screenshot of a conversation with an unknown person, although only showed his response to them.

Seemingly defending his relationship, Liam said: “Gotta say you could tell me anything and I couldn’t be turned, I’ve never felt a love like I do for Katelyn.

“We make each other better people.”

Hitting back at gold digger claims, he went on: “If it was just for the money I’d give her all of it.”

Liam then went on to back himself, posting a laughing emoji as he wrote: “It’s not though (please remember I’m hella sexy) and I know I’m fun and a loveable person.

“And I don’t give a f*** to say that for the first time in my life I’m happy to be me and that’s priceless.”

He captioned the one-sided conversation: “A lesson on how to reply to hurtful DMs about the person who owns your heart.”

Liam and his ex Maya split up in May for good after previously breaking up in June 2021 and later getting back together.

At the time of the first split, Liam said on The Diary of a CEO podcast that he was “disappointed in [himself] that [he] keeps on hurting people”.

He said: “That annoys me. I’ve just not been very good at relationships.”

Liam added: “And I know what my pattern of things is with relationships at this point.

“I’m just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else.”

The singer explained his split from Maya by saying he “wasn’t giving a very good version of [himself] anymore”.

Liam was previously in a relationship with Girls Aloud singer Cheryl, with the former couple sharing a son, Bear.
