Lorraine Kelly explains ITV absence after being replaced by GMB's Ranvir Singh

ITV’s Lorraine Kelly has been replaced on her self-titled show by her colleague Ranvir Singh.

Although the 62-year-old is usually only absent during the school holidays and breaks, she was also away on Friday’s instalment which left viewers confused.

Explaining why she wasn’t in the studio, Lorraine shared an image of herself in Orkney as she enjoyed some time away.

Filling in for the host whilst she’s on her travels is Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh who regularly steps in when Lorraine is away.

Ranvir, who is no stranger to hosting Lorraine, has previously confessed that she enjoys filling in as you can “get under the skin of the people you are interviewing”.

Speaking about her experiences hosting Lorraine, she once said: “You’ve got a bit more time and because there’s just one of you doing the interview, you’re able to follow your own trail of thought and where my personal interest lies in that particular person’s story.

“It just means that you have a bit more freedom in a way to have that conversation that you find particularly poignant or interesting and can bring a bit more of myself into.”

It’s not yet known if Ranvir will be filling in for the entire week as viewers have often seen Christine Lampard and Andy Peters also cover the show.

While Ranvir is keeping Lorraine’s seat warm, the Scottish host has been sharing some hilarious memories with her Instagram followers of her time away.

In one video, we got to see the 62-year-old spontaneously join a hen-do as she revealed to her fans the experience.

She captioned the video: “This is why I LOVE Orkney – this morning I was out shopping in Kirkwall and invited to join a traditional hen-do or “blackening” when the bride-to-be and her pals are covered in molasses and feathers and driven around in an truck, while singing and banging pots and pans – happens to the groom-to-be too. it’s messy, loud and BRILLIANT!!! Drink “might” be taken. Congrats Mrs Stoot to be!”

Her Instagram followers quickly took to the comment section to share their thoughts on the hilarious clip.

One person said: “This is utterly brilliant!”

With another adding: “you joined in – love it “

Someone else commented: “This is amazing!! Love it”

A fourth added: “Aw LOVED having you onboard to join the madness! What a hoot!”

Lorraine continues on ITV weekdays at 9am.
