Lorraine Kelly wasn’t holding back during a guest appearance on The Last Leg, as she took a savage swipe at Russian president Vladimir Putin.
The host compared the politician’s face to a “melted candle” while chatting to host Adam Hills, joined by comedians Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker on the programme on Friday (February 25).
And the conversation soon turned to the current crisis in Ukraine, with the nation under heavy attack from Putin’s Russia – with troops pouring into the sovereign nation and explosions heard across several cities.
Lorraine was asked by Adam: “How is World War Three going for you?” as she replied: “Oh my god. We’re just getting out of the darkness of Covid into the light and then, wham.”
Lorraine went on to slam Putin as she remarked: “I wonder, what is going on with this odd, strange, nutty person that is Putin? What is going on?

“You have to ask yourself – what is the end game here?”
She then told Josh: “You were worried about [Putin] not being angry, [but] you can’t tell. You can’t tell anything with him because he’s had so much work done – allegedly – that his face, is just so weird.
“It looks like a candle has melted, and then hardened.”
She added: “He’s tiny, and he wears high heels.”

Lorraine had her fellow panellists in stitches as she compared the Russian leader to Vincent Price in horror flick House of Wax, elaborating: “He had a face like that. Someone battered him and there was a horrible monster underneath.”
Catching on to her younger audience, Lorraine explained of the 1953 film: “You’re only a child, it’s like something out of Game of Thrones.
“I don’t understand why this would be happening. I feel like I’m living through the worst dream.”

Josh couldn’t help but joke back: “I like how you said ‘allegedly’ because you’re worried Vladimir Putin is going to take time out from the war to sue you.”
As she fired back: “Obviously, he has. Nobody’s got a face like that. He weren’t born with that wee face I don’t think!”
Fans were in hysterics at Lorraine’s outburst, as one wrote: “Lorraine Kelly taking down Putin on The Last Leg with gossip is brilliant.”
“Lorraine just said that Putin’s face is like a candle melted and re-hardened and she’s right!” another giggled.
It comes as at least 198 Ukrainians have been killed in the conflicted (as of Saturday morning), with an additional 1,115 citizens injured – 33 of those being children.
