Love Island hit with over 3,000 Ofcom complaints in a week over explosive 'bullying' row

Love Island has been hit with 3,617 Ofcom in just one week following Sunday’s (July 17) explosive Movie Night challenge.

After the highly-anticipated challenge returned to the airwaves, 2,481 viewers filed complaints with the broadcasting regulator after they were left up in arms over the “bullying” on screen.

An Ofcom official confirmed to The Sun that the complaints were related to the allegedly misogynistic behaviour by some of the male stars on the ITV2 dating show.

The hit ITV2 dating show has already been slapped with nearly 800 complaints to the independent media regulator from furious fans since the start of the new series returned last month.

But the show was greeted with a whole new level of complaints this week, with 129 complaints filed on July 12th in relation to Adam Collard returning to the villa and concerns for Jacques’s mental wellbeing in the lead up to his exit from the villa.

Just a few days later, 159 fans voiced their concerns about the footage shown of Ekin-Su and George Shares in bed together in the Casa Amor villa.

To add to the slew of complaints, Ofcom were bombarded with 413 protests about bullying and misogynistic behaviour from some of the male contestants during a group game of dares.

During the Suck and Blow challenge, blonde bombshell Tasha Ghouri appeared to be targeted by Luca Bish and Dami Hope.

The Brighton fishmonger also came under fire for appearing to enjoy watching the misfortune of his other stars as their mistakes played out on the big screen.

But a large proportion of the complaints were focused on the explosive argument between Gemma Owen and Luca after she appeared to flirt with fellow contestant Billy Brown.

Luca admitted he was “f***ing fuming* over the seemingly innocent clip, which he said was evidence of Michael Owen’s daughter flirting with someone else behind his back.

In the mind-blowing scenes, Luca slammed the 19-year-old for her betrayal, adding: “Just bring me a f***ing bird in and watch.

“Trust me when I say, if she wants to f***ing play games with me, I’ll play. I can’t be with someone like that, I’m sorry.”

However, Gemma calmly insisted: “I don’t think any lines have been crossed.”

Other concerns came over the way he and Dami spoke to Tasha as they mocked her by shouting “Tasha who” as clips of Andrew kissing Coco Lodge aired in front of the Islanders.
