Love Island Liam Llewellyn admits he 'couldn't relax' in villa as he explains exit

Liam Llewellyn has revealed that he left the Love Island villa as he “couldn’t relax” while appearing on the popular ITV dating programme.

Liam made his shock exit from the programme on day five in an emotional moment around the fire pit – leaving his fellow islanders and viewers stunned.

However, speaking in an Ask Me Anything session on Instagram yesterday (June 18) the former islander finally revealed why he left the villa after questions from fans.

Liam said: “Whilst in the villa I was overthinking everything massively and couldn’t really relax, which resulted in me not feeling like myself, and I didn’t want to be in the villa if I couldn’t offer 100%.”

He continued: “I waited to see if that would change, but in the end it just got worse, so I acted on it.

“I think the villa is a tough place to be if your head isn’t 100% in it, and I know I couldn’t have sent someone home, knowing I personally wasn’t feeling even 10% of my normal self.”

His Instagram story echoed sentiments that Liam shared with his fellow islanders before leaving, after he told them that he felt he was not giving 100% of himself.

In moments aired around the fire pit, Liam told his fellow contestants: “We all came here for the same sort of reason but I haven’t really been feeling like I’ve been giving 100% Liam. I know what 100% Liam looks like and I am miles off that.

“I literally feel like you’re missing out on 90% of what normal Liam offers.

“I’ve been thinking long and hard, like this isn’t a spur of the moment type thing. Trying to find someone to leave the villa with that you care about, like obviously, that’s a goal isn’t it?

He added: “So yeah, I’ve made the decision that I am gonna leave the villa.

“It’s been a breeze, it’s been an absolute ball, you are all unreal.”

However, Liam’s surprise exit from the villa left Love Island fans devastated, with many flocking to Twitter after his emotional exit from the programme.

One fan wrote: “Liam got us all crying”, whilst another said: “No Liam is leaving.”

A third commented: “Nah no one understands how sad I am over Liam leaving. Someone give him a big hug.”

Another added: “I understand Liam. If you’re not happy somewhere leave.”
