Luca Bish’s family have hit back at claims the Love Island star is being “controlling” of Gemma Owen.
The fishmonger has made it very clear he’s absolutely smitten with Michael Owen’s daughter, whom he’s been coupled up with for days.
He even told Gemma he was “obsessed” with her during a heated chat on Monday night (June 28), and that his head would never turn from her if somebody else walked into the villa.

Their relationship was rocked with drama on Monday after Gemma seemed to suggest her head could be turned by somebody else – before it was revealed Ekin-Su had fabricated her words from a chat with Dami Hope.

Fans of the show have already claimed Luca has shown “controlling” and “needy” behaviour towards Gemma.
But Luca’s family were quick to defend the hunk on social media after Monday’s episode finished, where they insisted how proud they were of him in a lengthy statement.
They also dismissed claims he was being “controlling” towards the 19-year-old dressage rider.
They wrote: “Could not be more proud of our boy if we tried. Such a huge shame to see the stigma surrounding men being transparent with their emotions.. he’s expressed how into Gemma he is, and it’s taken as controlling?

“He’s THE funniest and most caring kid we know and we will forever be proud at how much he’s wearing his heart on his sleeve. He promised us he’d be his beautiful self and play no game, and he’s sticking to his word.

It’s not the first time their romance has suffered a set back as Gemma initially told Luca she wanted to slow things down with him before they grew ever closer.

But Monday night saw things escalate between the two after Luca confronted Gemma about the potential of her head turning if another guy who was her type entered the villa.
He told her: “I’m obsessed with you. I ain’t gonna lie. My head is so with you now and that’s it.”
Gemma reassured him her feelings towards him hadn’t changed, but she didn’t fully reciprocate his words.
