Love Island stars who knew each other before ITV2 stint – steamy smooch to 'love rivals'

Many Love Island stars have known each other before heading into the villa – and it’s always a shock when they find their pal in the villa.

For some it has been a case of knowing a fellow islander as they enter the same series, but for others they have links to stars from previous years.

The likes of Megan Barton Hanson and Alexandra Cane have been linked together as well as Molly-Mae Hague and Stephanie Lam, and some have quite the history.

But which islanders did know one another before their villa stints? Some are even from this series…

Davide and Jacques seemed to have a connection before they were put in the villa together – and eagle-eyed fans spotted it.

Fans realised they followed one another ahead of their stint on the show, but after tracking back even further on Instagram many fans spotted a comment from Jacques on Davide’s Instagram.

Jacques commented: “You boys need to start training,” on one of his pics prompting Davide to say: “More gym and less parties I guess,” as Jacques added: “More gym keep the amount of parties the same.”

The comments dated back 73+ weeks at the time fans spotted it.

Megan Barton Hanson and Alexandra Cane only had a brief encounter – but it seems they may have forgotten when they entered the villa.

The pair didn’t appear to know one another when they went into the ITV2 show.

However, they were connected in 2016 as they appeared in a Giggs music video.

There were also photos of them posing together at We Are Festival in May 2017, the year before they both entered the villa together.

Molly-Mae Hague and Stephanie Lam

Molly-Mae and Stephanie Lam were friends way before she went into the Love Island villa, but Steph had already appeared on the show as a bombshell.

They met ahead of Molly’s stint in Manchester and became firm friends, with Steph even giving Molly advice before she went on the show.

They’ve continued to remain closer than ever with Steph even walking in Molly’s PLT fashion show earlier this year.

Chuggs and Hugo

Chuggs and Hugo made their connection apparent as soon as Chuggs joined the villa.

They seemed happy to see one another after attending university at Oxford Brookes, but it seems it wasn’t all easy for their friendship.

At the time, a source told The Sun: “Hugo and Chuggs knew each other through sport at uni – I think they were both interested in the same girl and went head to head on trying to date her.”

Despite their reported feud, they got on incredibly well in the villa for the short time he was in there.

Amber Gill and Ellie Brown

Amber Gill and Ellie Brown were once such close friends and regularly partied together in Newcastle.

However things went downhill when Ellie started dating Michael Griffiths, Ambers ex on Love Island.

Amber appeared with Anna Vakili and Amy Hart as Anna said that Ellie used to be Amber’s best friend, prompting her to turn the conversation immediately as she said she “doesn’t talk about that”.
