Love Island fans were left astonished when they discovered that football legend Michael Owen had a 19 year old daughter who was making her way into the villa of love.
And since her arrival, Gemma Owen has caused quite a stir and has been the centre of attention on and off the show.
Despite her famous connection, she has yet to discuss her father and hasn’t told any of her fellow islanders who her dad is.
But although Gemma has a major celebrity link, she isn’t the only person in the show’s history to have the same.
Daily Star has taken a look back at some of the most captivating Love Island contestants who also have a celebrity link.
Camilla Thurlow and Prince Harry
In 2017, Love Island contestant and former bomb disposal expert Camilla Thurlow left fans stunned when it came to light that she previously had a fling with Prince Harry, according to reports at the time.
Although Camilla failed to reveal all about their previous romance, reports suggested that she was the one to call it off due to having cold feet.
A source claiming to be close to Camilla told New magazine at the time: “Harry thought she was amazing and seemed to want something serious, but she refused to open up to him through fear of being rejected.
“It was Camilla’s reservations that stopped their romance from going anywhere.”

During season one of the hit dating show, Lauren Richardson sent the rumour mill into overdrive when everyone suspected that she had a fling with former One Direction star Zayn Malik.
After a photo of the pair emerged where they looked rather close, fans were left questioning whether there was something more between them.
Despite many wondering what was happening, Lauren made sure she cleared things up before she entered the villa.
Talking to MailOnline she said: “It just got blown out of proportion. The picture was just a picture.
“They were in the VIP Section and I managed to get in there… I went over to ask for a picture. There was no problem and I took the picture.
“I then posted the picture and it just went absolutely mental. So there’s no juicy story behind it which I think everyone was dying to hear. It’s just a picture.”

In 2019, boxer Tommy Fury entered the villa with hopes of finding everlasting love and from the looks of it, he certainly found that with his current partner Molly-Mae Hague.
But before the couple got down to business, bombshell Tommy made sure he made Molly and the other islanders aware of famous link to Tyson Fury who happens to be his older brother.
Before he made his entry on the show, Tommy made clear that he didn’t want to be labelled as Tyson’s “little brother”.
He expressed: “I’m my own man and I’ve said it throughout my whole boxing career.
“I don’t want to be labelled as his little brother, I’m my own man and I’m doing the best that I can do in life and that’s all I’m setting out to achieve.”
Curtis Pritchard and AJ Pritchard
Love Island star Curtis Pritchard certainly made an entrance when he entered as a bombshell in 2019 alongside Tommy.
But the young chap was quick to share that he comes from a family of professional dancers, one of them being his brother Curtis Prichard who was well known for previously starring in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Before Love Island, Curtis also appeared in Ireland’s Dancing with the Stars.
Choreographer Curtis reached fourth place in his series alongside Maura Higgins.
Paige Turley and Lewis Capaldi
Love Island winter winner Paige Turley had a surprise connection when she appeared on the show back in 2020.
When Paige was younger, she previously dated Someone You Loved singer Lewis Capaldi.
Despite finding love with Finley Tapp on the show, Paige later revealed that she was still friends with Lewis and he congratulated her on her Love Island win.
She said: “I actually texted him to say congratulations on his Brits.
“He texted me back to congratulate me on Love Island so it’s good but I haven’t really had a chance to catch up with anybody. It’s been hectic. We’re still good friends.”
“I think because I knew Lewis before, I don’t know him as the superstar. He’s always just been Lewis to me. It’s normal,” she explained.
Dani Dyer and Danny Dyer
Love Island winner Dani Dyer couldn’t hide that she was related to EastEnders actor Danny Dyer for very long because the clue was in her name.
However, although she and her father share a very close bond, Dani’s dad was “furious” when she decided to enter the villa of love in 2018.
Discussing the moment she told her father about joining the show on their podcast Sorted With The Dyers, Dani said her father didn’t speak to her for weeks once he found out.
Dani explained: “I loved being a dental nurse but it wasn’t somewhere I wanted to be forever. Then Love Island happened.”
Danny interjected: “Everything was going all lovely and you were getting on with it and all of a sudden you sat me down.”
She continued: “I wanted something different,” as she suggested Love Island was a strategic move to get her out of her job.
Sophie Piper and Rochelle Humes
Winter Love Island contestant Sophie Piper didn’t mention that she was related to sister Rochelle Humes while on the show which left many fans fairly confused.
Some thought she was banned from talking about the This Morning star as it may potentially taint her “clean” television image.
However she did mention it during her entry video.
Talking about the mystery behind it at the time, Dan Badham, a legal associate at Cripps Pemberton Greenish told Metro: “Despite the reportedly close relationship between Sophie and Rochelle, we cannot rule out the possibility that Sophie was asked to sign an NDA or otherwise agreed to be bound by obligations of confidentiality.”
“The value of Rochelle’s brand as a presenter is partly characterised by her ‘clean’ image.
“We would, therefore, expect that she would want to protect this and a well-structured NDA, with a clear definition of what constitutes ‘confidential information’ is a useful tool for achieving this purpose.”
Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 and ITV Hub at 9pm
