Love Island turns tense as next boy's exit confirmed while Danica gets first pick

Love Island turned tense on Friday (June 17) as a major recoupling was announced – meaning one of the boys was about to be sent home.

The girls were tasked with choosing which boy they wanted to couple up with, and new bombshell Danica was first up to the plate, looking visibly nervous in front of the fire pit.

Danica explained that because she’d only been there for 24 hours, she had to go solely off which boy would be her usual type.

Earlier in the episode, she explained to the girls that Jacques and Luca were the type of guy she’s dated in the past, leaving Gemma visibly fuming.

The girls also weren’t happy with their first impression of Danica as they moaned about her flicking her hair while flirting with the lads.

The episode, however, ended on a huge cliffhanger as Danica said: “The boy I’d like to couple up with is…” but the credits rolled before she could reveal her choice.

The contestants had only found out about the upcoming recoupling just moments before, with Tasha receiving a text that instructed them to gather around the fire pit before Danica was told to choose first.

Her fellow girls didn’t look too happy with the turn of events.

Taking to Twitter, fans were left fuming with the massive cliffhanger, which means they have to wait until Sunday night to find out who’s leaving the villa.

One fumed: “I can’t believe they left us with such a cliffhanger!”

As another echoed: “Fuming at the ending of Love Island tonight. Like was that really necessary?”

“I bet the producers think they’re so quirky for that ending #LoveIsland,” someone else posted.

A fourth tweeted: “Love Island really ending like that? Roll on Sunday!”

It comes as Thursday’s episode left fans in the middle of Ekin-Su’s row with Davide, with Friday’s first look trailer teasing more drama to come in that department.

Davide fumed at Ekin that she is a “liar” and an “actress”, while others accused Ekin of crying “crocodile tears” when her ex railed at her.

Indiyah, meanwhile, quipped in the Beach Hut: “Are you crying because you’re upset, or are you crying because you got caught?”

Love Island airs nightly from 9pm on ITV2.
