Martine McCutcheon shares diet tip that helps keep pounds off and allows treats

Ex-EastEnders actress Martine McCutcheon, well known for her role in the soap and in Love Actually, has admitted that she uses a well-known dieting technique to stay in shape.

The 45-year-old actress has recently been signed by Elite modelling agency, a company that has looked after many big names in the industry such as supermodels Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell.

Although her character Natalie in Love Actually was the brunt of many unnecessary weight-related comments, Martine is a healthy size.

Martine has, however, previously struggled with her health.

She has been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, which causes extreme tiredness, Lyme disease, which can cause fevers and headaches, and fibromyalgia, which causes pain and fatigue.

The star admitted to using a popular weight-loss technique

To combat these she regularly takes cold showers in an attempt to lull the pain and lethargy, a move she jokingly refers to as being “WD-40’d”.

The mother-of-one regularly posts selfies on her Instagram profile, racking up a huge amount of likes from her 485,000 followers who often comment on her slim figure and classic beauty.

Martine recently spoke to Love Sunday magazine about how she keeps in shape, saying that it took her a “long time” to figure out what worked for her and that she has “looked through all the stuff that’s out there”, settling for “what works for her”.

McCutcheon’s secret is to keep everything in moderation

“The 80/20 rule is what works for me. For 80% of my week, I will have mainly just healthy proteins, vegetables and fruit, organic and veggie juices,” she revealed.

McCutcheon continued: “Then, I’ll have treats 20% of the time. I’ll have that slice of pizza, chocolate or a gin and tonic to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I’ll do it because I know that for most of the week I’ve been doing the good bits for my heart.”

The actress also exercises regularly, walking her dogs for 40 minutes a day after dropping her son off at school as it’s “good for her head and her health”.

Martine has kept herself fit and healthy despite her health issues

Despite previous struggles with her health, Martine has enjoyed a glittering career, from ruling Albert Square to releasing chart topping music.

She even gave birth to her son, who she describes as a “miracle baby”, despite suffering from fertility complications.

Martine has enjoyed 10 years of marriage with her husband, singer Jack McManus, and the pair have been together since 2009.

She also complemented her partner on his “strong, silent but supportive” nature and said that he “loves to help her shine”.
