Maya Jama has taken to Instagram to call out online trolls who have doctored an image of the star to make her appear topless.
The presenter, who was recently announced as the new host for ITV2’s Love Island, shared a screenshot on her Instagram story and was clearly angry at the revelation.
The screen grab showed WhatsApp messages between her and her mother, who had sent Maya the alleged “nude”.

Jama’s mum told her: “Someone sent this on [Snapchat] to Shi but it looks fake to me. I think I’ve seen the same picture of you with clothes on. I told Shi that ain’t real, [for f***s sake].”
Maya then scribbled out a message that came after it and replied with: “They aren’t real, obviously.”
She then wrote in the caption: “Also, lol, these fake nudes have been circulating for months. The real photos [with her clothes on] are literally on my page and it’s a bait Photoshop, but here we are, it’s reached my mum,” with a laughing emoji.
The doctored images showed Maya with her long dark hair worn in curls as she posed for a picture while looking off into the distance.
She stood against a colourful background and showed off her toned stomach, but the presenter had scribbled out where the Photoshopped image would have shown her to be topless.
Maya, who will be the new face of Love Island after Laura Whitmore recently stepped down, appeared to throw shade at the show’s 2021 winner.
Ekin-Su Culculoglu claimed that she was offered the coveted presenter role when she spoke to Pop Sugar magazine and said that she would have “loved to do it”, but had to turn it down due to “how busy she is”.
Ekin-Su also claimed that she “is not ready for it” and would prefer to have some “proper training” under her belt as she is “not to the level of Laura”.
However, an insider spoke to The Sun and reported that Maya “was the first choice for the host”.
Maya’s shade came when she appeared to “like” tweets that debunked the claim that Ekin-Su was asked to host the show.
Jama will begin her new role on the 2023 series, which will begin early in the year and will be held in South Africa.
