Misfits cast now – assault charge, Michelle Keegan link and famous brother

Misfits was one of the most-loved sitcoms around, and even picked up a BAFTA for best drama – but not all of the cast found lasting success.

Netflix picked up all five series years after it ended, allowing a whole new audience to binge watch the show some 12 years after it landed on E4.

The show ended up being a major springboard for some of the cast, who have gone on to find huge Hollywood success in some cases, and starring in some enormous TV series.

Misfits was based around a group of young offenders who were serving community service.

It all seemed to be going well, until a strange electrical storm left them with special abilities, with everything from telepathy to time-jumping.

As Antonia Thomas, who played Alisha, celebrates her birthday (November 3), we take a look at where the cast is now.

Robert Sheehan – Nathan

Robert ended up being one of the breakout stars of the show, after playing the role of Nathan.

Nathan was immortal (at first) and was shown to have disappeared to Vegas just before series three.

Since then he starred on the big screen in Killing Bono alongside Ben Barnes, BBC One drama Accused as well as series two of Sky Atlantic’s Fortitude show.

His biggest role has been as the adorable Klaus in Netflix’s Umbrella Academy. The show has been a smash hit, and a final season is on the way.

He turned to writing fiction over the Covid lockdown, and has a book out.

The star said he turned to meditation after the “most miserable time of his life” a few years ago, and has also apologised to many of his exes for being “selfish.”

Iwan Rheon – Simon

Another breakout star, Iwan will be instantly recognisable to millions of people thanks to his role as Ramsay Bolton in Game Of Thrones.

There was controversy over hard-hitting rape scenes in the show, which he described to Metro as “the worst day of my career”.

Iwan previously auditioned for the role of Jon Snow, but lost to Kit Harington – however they remained friends.

Iwan described some of the scenes in GoT as “the worst of his life”

He played Simon in Misfits, who had the power of invisibility and he left at the end of series three.

He also starred in BBC One’s Our Girl, short-lived ITV sitcom Vicious and Urban Myths as a young Adolf Hitler.

Iwan also won over new fans playing Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars in the film The Dirt.

He lives in London with his girlfriend, Zoë Grisedale; their first child was born in August 2018.

Nathan Stewart-Jarrett – Curtis

Nathan starred as Curtis in the show, who had the power of time manipulation (although he ended up with some weirder powers by the end).

He went on to star in a C4 series called Utopia, and performed in the theatre with Andrew Garfield in Angels in America.

He also appeared in a music video by Years & Years called Real released in 2014.

In 2019, Stewart-Jarrett played the lead role in Mope, an unusual crime film about the life of pornographic actor Steve Driver.

Antonia Thomas – Alisha

Antonia played the role of Alisha until the end of series three.

She went on to star in Coldplay and Stereophonics music videos, and played the lead in Netflix’s Lovesick.

One of her biggest roles to date was Dr Claire Browne in US drama The Good Doctor which hit viewing figures of 20million.

Antonia was cast in the Channel 4 show Suspect alongside James Nesbitt and Richard E Grant, which aired earlier in 2022.

Ruth Negga – Nikki

Ruth starred in Misfits as Nikki for one series, as (spoiler alert) her character died in the series two Christmas special.

In 2011 Negga portrayed the iconic Shirley Bassey in BBC Two’s biopic Shirley.

She also had regular roles in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD series and also appeared in Amazon’s comic-book adaptation Preacher as Tulip O’Hare (alongside fellow Misfit star Joseph Gilgun).

She received an Oscar nomination for best actress for her role in Loving in 2016.

It was announced in September 2021 that she would be making her Broadway debut in a production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth as Lady Macbeth.

Bond star Daniel Craig played Macbeth in the show.

Negga dated Dominic Cooper from 2010, and they lived together for six years before breaking up.

Their split wasn’t reported until 2018, but she has since acted with him and said they are “best friends.”

Joseph Gilgun – Rudy

Joseph appeared as Rudy Wade and was the first of many cast changes and was the “replacement” for Nathan.

His character had multiple personalities.

Gilgun also starred in This Is England and starred in films such as Pride and The Last Witch Hunter.

He also starred in Preacher with Ruth, playing drug addict vampire Cassidy, after producers said he was “perfect” for the part.

Joseph then created, executive produced, and starred in the Sky series Brassic alongside Michelle Keegan.

He has talked openly in interviews and podcasts about living with bipolar disorder and said many of the scenes in Brassic were inspired by his life.

Gilgun also starred in The Infiltrator film, alongside Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston.

He remains close to many of his This Is England co-stars.

Lauren Socha – Kelly

Lauren (second from right) originally won a BAFTA award for her role as Kelly in Misfits.

However, her part came to an abrupt end after she was found guilty of aggravated assault.

She did not return for the show’s fourth series, in what was described as a “mutual decision.”

Lauren’s career bounced back with roles in ITV2’s Plebs, C4’s Catastrophe and BBC’s The Other One.

She also starred alongside Michelle Keegan in Strangeways Here We Come.

Lauren also has a famous older brother named Michael, who has appeared in This is England, BBC series Time and Chernobyl.
