Myleene Klass has told how she has had to save two of her daughters from choking.
The former Hear’Say star opened up about what happened in her new book They Don’t Teach This At School, in which she emphasises the importance of people learning some potentially life-saving techniques.
She revealed that when her 11-year-old daughter Hero was a toddler she got something lodged in her throat. Then her older daughter Ava, who is now 14, choked on a meal.
In an extract published by The Sun, Myleene said that Hero choked when she got a little plastic star stuck in her throat when she was 18 months old.
“I lay her on her front, angled along my arm, and hit her hard five times on her back,” she said, adding that it didn’t work until the third attempt.
They then had a scare with Ava a few years later.
Myleene explained: “A couple of years ago we were relaxing on holiday and my defences were down, so when Ava started to choke on calamari I didn’t immediately realise.
“I jumped over the table and whacked her three times on the back. She sprang back to life, then carried on eating like nothing had happened.”
The former I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star has also shared messages on social media about empowering people to know what to do in emergencies.
And last week she revealed on Instagram that she had reached a mum who was able to use what she had learned.
“Just found out we helped a mother save her baby’s life yesterday after she watched our video on choking,” she said alongside a video of her and her daughters.
“We are all feeling very emotional and relieved after hearing this news.”
Myleene shares Ava and Hero with her ex Graham Quinn.
She is also mum to a two-year-old son named Apollo with her partner Simon Motson.
