The Netflix relaunch of the bonkers 90s children’s show Teletubbies has an unlikely new star – Tituss Burgess of Unbreakable Kimmy Shmidt fame.
The show, featuring the iconic foursome Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po, is set to return to screens on November 14 with the American comedian and actor as its narrator.
The revival will see 26 new episodes all set in brightly coloured, weird Teletubbyland where the characters’ favourite snacks are served – tubby custard and tubby toast.

The show first ran between 1997 and 2001 and its creator, Anne Wood reportedly raked in about £150 million from it.
Though Teletubbies didn’t really have a storyline and the creatures made little sense or didn’t speak an actual language, it was still monumentally popular with children and adults alike.
The original show was filmed on a real-life set in England but this one is believed to be computer generated.
The trailer opens with Burgess, 43, saying pleasantly: “Over the hills and far away, Teletubbies come to play!”
He is best known for playing Kimmy’s flamboyant roommate Titus Andromedon in American comedy but is also an established singer and musical theatre performer.
There will also be new “sun babies” in the new show, cute children who act as the sun in the sky.
In a statement, Netflix said: “The Teletubbies — and new narrator Tituss Burgess — are coming to Netflix on November 14th!”
As the official description states, there will be new original songs and it will follow the quartet “on wonder-filled adventures as they learn and grow in this 21st-century refresh of the beloved preschool series”.
The “Tummy Tales” songs are meant to “have the entire family dancing along” across each of the 26 12-minute-long episodes, which sounds more like a warning for parents.
The show was not only a major success in the UK, but it proved a popular export, gaining fame around the world, including the US.
It won multiple BAFTA awards and the show’s original theme song even became number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1997.
