Eurovision Song Contest winner Netta Barzilai has revealed what it was really like to make the hit Netflix film Eurovision: The Story Of Fire Saga – and the moment fans would have dreamed to have been a part of.
Netta – who won the contest for Israel in 2018 with the song Toy – was part of an all-star line-up of past contestants who appeared in the film’s iconic song-a-long sequence.
The scene saw actors Will Ferrell, Rachel McAdams and Dan Stevens as their characters Lars, Sigrit and Alexander Lemtov sing a medley of pop hits alongside Eurovision royalty including Netta, Lorene and Conchita Wurst.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Netta revealed that despite the film being set in Edinburgh, the memorable scene was shot elsewhere, saying it was actually “filmed in London.”
“It was like being in a Hollywood film, to be in a trailer, to be made up with other people, it was fun. I loved it,” said Netta.
The cast and Eurovision stars all spent time together away from set too, with Netta revealing the one moment that fans would have “killed” to have been a part of.
“We were all together there and it felt surreal, to do the movie. It was like a reunion of all of the winners.
“We were having breakfast together. I was like, the people who would kill to be here.”
She added: “It was like, me, Conchita and Lorene were having a croissant in the morning. It was fun.”
Speaking of her Hollywood co-stars, Netta also revealed that they were as starstruck to work the Eurovision stars, as the contestants were to work with them.
She also praised their performances on set, saying: “Will, Rachel and Dan – they were all unbelievably talented and humble and welcoming.”
Netta’s iconic Eurovision winning performance saw the star made up with her signature, beautiful nails – which she also uses a percussion instrument in her songs.
She revealed however, that her hit track I Love My Nails is not actually about her nails.
Instead, Netta describes her nails as “a form of self-expression” and an empowering message of self-love – using them as a metaphor in the song.
She said: “When I do my stuff, when I do my music, I never like to go an obvious route.
“I didn’t want to say [in the song] ‘I love myself’. It made sense to say ‘I love my nails’. It made sense. It was funny, it was empowering, but at the same time it wasn’t obvious. That’s pop. For me, that’s pop. That’s my pop.
“When you listen to the lyrics, it’s a heartbreak song, with a very quirky chorus, which makes sense to me. Again very specific.”
Netta has also recently released the song Playground Politica, a collaboration with the artist Mr Eazi, which Netta describes as a personal song about her childhood attending an international school in Nigeria.
“Everybody was different, but nobody was different. It was like a utopia,” said Netta.
However after moving away from Nigeria, she felt like the kid who “didn’t fit in,” adding: “The whole song is about craving to be a part of something. A part of a group, with my friends.”
After hinting at more music on the way, the singer also added: “I can promise you that I’m working very hard and good things are coming.”
