Channel 4 news presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy has apologised after branding a Tory MP a “c***”.
The presenter was interviewing Conservative MP Steve Baker earlier this week, which was thought to have continued over to the MP after the cameras stopped rolling.
In a clip shared to social media, Krishnan can be heard saying: “Thanks a lot Steve. It wasn’t a stupid question, Steve, you know it, I’m very happy to go up against you on Truss any day.”

Laughing, the anchor then muttered: “What a c***”.
Now Krishnan has tweeted out an apology for the “unguarded” moment.
He wrote: “After a robust interview with Steve Baker MP I used a very offensive word in an unguarded moment off air.
“While it was not broadcast that word in any context is beneath the standards I set myself and I apologise unreservedly.
“I have reached out to Steve Baker to say sorry.”
MP Baker responded to the message, tweeting: “I appreciate you apologising. Thank you.”
The segment comes amid a very tense time in government, with both Home Secretary Suella Braverman and chief whip Wendy Morton resigning from their cabinet positions.
Viewers of the segment have already taken to social media to share their thoughts, with one initially sticking up for Krishnan as they said: “I heard ‘order cut!’ Clearly he was talking to the news room operations to cut that feed and back to the studio.
“On a separate note, Krishnan seems like the kinda guy you’d buy a pint for.”
Someone else branded the incident “incredible”, as another echoed: “Pint or rather a keg for @krishgm ANYTIME HE WANTS!”
Krishnan clearly isn’t above taking down the current shambles in government with a few quick-fire words, as he joked in his latest report: “I just went down the road to the Treasury to speak to today’s Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt.”
It isn’t his first foray into bad language while on air, either, as he issued a hilarious non-apology last week in response to journalist Gillian Tett’s opinions on Jacob Rees-Mogg.
Speaking on the show about the mini-budget Gillian said: “To use a non-technical term, that is pretty much b******s.”
“I think for the most part it really was the budget and the way it was delivered and the message inside, which sparked the beginning of the crisis.”

Phone in hand, Krishnan retaliated: “Before we go, I’ve had time to clarify whether that word Gillian Tett used to describe Jacob Rees Mogg’s explanation was within the rules.
“And on the Ofcom regulator website, it describes [the word] as ‘medium language, potentially unacceptable, less problematic when used to mean nonsense’.
“I should, however, apologise to people who are relying on subtitles, for whom it was spelled ‘bullocks’.”
