Niall Horan's love life – Made in Chelsea fling, Victoria's Secret and Ed Sheeran 'dig'

One Direction hunk Niall Horan has had his pick of the most beautiful women in the world.

Being the only blonde heartthrob in the world’s biggest boyband throughout the 2010s meant that Niall was bound to date and get linked to some seriously stunning celebrities.

But his dating back catalogue might just surprise you.

To celebrate Niall’s 29th birthday today (September 13), Daily Star explores his love life.

Hailee Steinfeld

Although very short-lived, Hailee and Niall were fan favourites when they enjoyed a loving relationship in 2018.

After months of speculation the loved-up duo confirmed their relationship in August with a whole lot of PDA. The confirmation came during a date night at Disneyland.

Months later in December 2018 though Niall and Hailee reportedly called time on their romance.

A source told E! News at the time. “Hailee realized she had a lot on her plate and her work schedule was insanely busy. She was gearing up for a huge press tour for her new movie. They really tried to make it work. It definitely was ‘young love.’”

Ellie Goulding

Ellie and Niall became embroiled in rumours that they were the subject of Ed Sheeran’s 2013 song Don’t.

In the song, Ed makes digs at a famous ex who is also hinted to be a musician, who cheated on him with a mutual friend, using the lyrics: “I never saw him as a threat, ’Til you disappeared with him to have sex’, and ‘I’m downstairs at my party and you’re upstairs doing that, that’s disrespectful.”

Ed later said about the song: “The story in Don’t is 100 per cent true. I could have gotten nastier — there was more s*** that I didn’t put in.”

Niall and songstress Ellie were then seen getting cosy at V Festival during a Kings of Leon set, when they reportedly left mid-track and went to a VIP cocktail area.

They are said to have gone on a few dates, but nothing came to fruition with Ellie speaking out on their dates recently.

People reported that in 2020 Ellie said: “We’re still friends. We went on a few dates, and it was really fun. He’s a really, really lovely guy. He’s got the biggest sense of humour, he’s very caring, and I see him as a genuine friend in the industry.”

Barbara Palvin

Niall dated stunning Victoria’s Secret model Barbra Palvin for a short while after they supposedly met in 2013 when One Direction were touring America.

The duo then started following each other on Twitter, with their friendship blossoming into a sweet romance.

With things turning sour in 2014, Barbra appeared to confirm the split on Valentine’s Day when she snapped a photo of her cuddled up to a mystery man.

Demi Lovato

They technically didn’t date, but the rumours at the time were so rife that we couldn’t not include them.

It was reported that Niall revealed he and Demi had shared a series of “Skype dates” – which led to his ever-growing fanbase full of teenage girls speculating if they were more than friends.

The Mirror reported that Demi said at the time: “He is an amazing listener and makes me laugh a lot, two of the main qualities I look for.

“He knows I have a little crush on him, and we enjoy having dinner when we get the chance. We speak and message all the time.

“I don’t want a relationship over Skype; we are both in a place where we feel zero pressure to rush.

“We share the philosophy that the right one is worth waiting for.”

But maybe there were just friends after all, because Demi spoke to Company Magazine in 2013 and said: “I’m so tired of that! It never happened.”

She added: “Niall’s a really sweet guy and I definitely consider him a friend, but it’s never crossed that line… He’s a sweet kid and we have an understanding, but we’re just friends.”

Selena Gomez

Rumours surrounding Niall and Selena went strong for years, with rumours still spiralling in 2019.

It all started in 2012 when it was reported that the pair been spotted smooching at Channing Tatum’s ex-wife Jenna Dewan’s 35th birthday party.

And then in 2015 they were spotted with pals on Santa Monica Pier in LA.

But Selena quashed rumours when Entertainment Tonight asked her if she was dating Niall and she replied: “Oh my god! No! I love him, I always have. He’s amazing.”

In 2019 Selena promoted Niall’s single Nice To Meet Ya, and then the pair were seen out with a group of friends.

Niall put the rumours to bed once and for all though in 2020 when he spoke on an Australian radio show.

He said: “This petition I feel like has been going on for I think eight years. Myself and Selena are really good friends with the same group of mates.

“I remember I saw this stupid article a while ago of her walking out of my house or walking into my house or something like that and everyone was like, ‘Oh they’re together’. There was also about 15 other people in there for a barbecue. It’s just typical absolute useless nonsense.”

Louise Thompson

A little known fact, even to the biggest and most dedicated Directioners – Niall “spent the night” with Made In Chelsea’s Louise.

Sister of funny man Sam Thompson, Louise and Niall are said to have had a short-lived fling.

At the time Louise was 22 and had a boyfriend, but spent the night with Niall after he “bombarded her with flirty text messages”.

When it happened in the spring of 2013 – almost 10 years ago – a source told The Sun: “Louise has gushed about Niall for weeks.

“They were on the phone last week when he suggested she go over and sent a car. It was secretive and exciting.”

Amelia Woolley

Niall has finally found love – and we couldn’t be happier for him.

He has been with current girlfriend Amelia since 2020, with the gorgeous brunette allegedly spending Christmas with Niall in his Irish hometown that year, according to sources at the Irish Mail on Sunday.

The loved up couple made their first red carpet appearance together in September 2021 in Watford – wowing fans with their glamorous display.

Amelia shared a snap of her and Niall on her Snapchat, where the pair looked cosier than ever while enjoying a lowkey date night drinking wine.

Earlier this year Niall was spotted in Mexico with the stunning brunette who works as a fashion buyer for luxury footwear brand Nicholas Kirkwood.

Lounging beneath the sun, the pair even shared a steamy kiss – in photos obtained by MailOnline.

And in July the pair went to the Grand Prix in Paris – looking totally smitten might we add.
